The Rumors Are Annoying

DAY 7

It was a week since the bet, and I felt no
closer to get into Logan Miller's brain and save my prom. If I think about the previous week, and how Logan met me on the first day, it feels unbelievable and hazy.

Logan and I were something one calls friends now. We fight, and argue but come back to each other. I guess. Or maybe I was just trying to save my prom and he liked annoying me.

Whatever may it be, day seven came in like a wrecking ball to me, and I had nothing. Again. Only this time, Logan Miller seemed to have plans for himself.

"Hey, Amy!" He said, as I entered Chemistry and sat on my place. He placed his hands on the table firmly and shot me a nervous look. "I, uh, wanted to show you something."

I nodded as a random guy yelled from behind, "Get a room!"

Logan paid no attention to that guy and handed me over his phone. The screen was unlocked and there was a picture of his there. I smiled at his concietedness and looked back at him, for help. "Unlock the screen."

I did, and I directly got into the iMessage. There were many texts, to random guys from school and few girls. I looked at him and he shrugged saying, "Lena." He tapped on the conversation he had with Lena.

Little bro, Sean and I are thinking of having luncheon today. Want to join? Her message read.

1. Sean is Australian, so I think it's lunch. 2. You don't let me say no. 3. I have school. Logan sent her back.

She seemed to totally ignore the first point he had stated, because she only replied to the second. Good, get my fave babe with you aka your good friend aka my fave bridesmaid. P.S. fine we'll meet up for dinner!

That was the end of the conversation. "What?" I asked, looking at his tiny nose.

"My good friend is you, of course. Last time I checked, you were her favorite bridesmaid too." He said, not sounding happy or actually, anything. "She wants you to join us for dinner. So, will you come?"

I placed my books on the table and looked back at him for real talk. "You want me to?" I asked, lifting my brows in disbelief.

"A little, yes," he said, a little too stubbornly. "There is no way she is letting me pass it, so you might as well join and make it less worse. Plus, maybe she wouldn't pay that much attention to me after all, considering she will have you and Sean."

"Mom will be happy to send me. But Taylor..." I trailed off. "Okay, I'll come. I like your sister."

He held my hand and shook it. "You are one of a kind. Peace out, dork." He almost walked away, but haulted. "I felt like I sounded like a lesbian."
_____

By lunch, it felt like the whole school knew about my dinner plans. As I walked past the freshmen, they whispered to each other and giggled. The same case was with the people of my grade.

Girls pushed past me and laughed at me. There were even some who were loud enough; purposely or not. "I've heard Logan Miller called this redhead nerd to dinner! I think it's a date! Like seriously, he only took me to lunch. At our school cafeteria." I couldn't help but chuckled at them.

One of the other rumours/ assumptions I heard were: "Logan Miller has asked Amy Valdez to go on a dinner with him and his sister. He's introducing her to his family, how long until they're married?"

Logan came running to me as he saw me standing in the lunch line. "Goodness, news spread in this school like wildfire!" He said, panting.

"I know," I said, rolling my eyes and grabbing a can of mixed fruit juice. "But I thought you liked being in the news."

"I do," he admitted, blushing a little. "But in here, you are with me."

"Gee, sorry that you asked me for dinner with you sister and they linked us." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Hey, I didn't mean it like that." He said as I started walking away. "Okay. I am being rumored to your boyfriend. Like, pfft."

"Still not working."

"There's no scenerio in which you are the victim." He said, clenching his fist. "You get my point though. Anyway, I'll be coming to pick you up at 7:30. Sean and Lena will meet us at the restaurant."

"Sure." I said, keeping my tray on the table with a loud noise.

He grinned as he took a few steps back. "Its a date."

And everyone erupted into applause around us, or whatever it is called. Howling, maybe?
______

At sharp half past seven, a car started honking. My mother put on a last touch of makeup on my face and was close to hurrying my out of the door.

"Wait up, hey," Taylor said, pulling her back. He stood in front of me like I was going on my first date and he was telling me to he safe. "Be safe," he said, making me laugh. "Really, Millers are well, I don't know really."

"I will be safe, Tay." I assured him, walking out of the door conveniently. I closed the door behind me and walked to the big car standing in front of me.

I was greeted by a half frowning and half grinning Logan as I slid into the passenger's at. "How are you doing?"

"Good," I said, buckling my seat belt. "Okay, I'll tell you. I feel weird about all this."

"Hey, you're my best friend," he said and I rolled my eyes. "Help me out here, have my back. I surely have yours all the time."

I took a wise decision of not being too late to meet my 'fave' bride and told Logan to start driving.
