"Cedric!" I call. "CEDRIC WAIT UP!" I chase after him out to the back of The Burrow. He stops and turns around angrily.

"WHAT?" he demands.

"What's wrong with you?"

He doesn't say anything.

"Did I do something wrong?"

"YES! YES Y/N YOU DID DO SOMETHING WRONG!" he yells at me.

"What did I do? Tell me so I can apologize!" I say, voice raising as well.

"You don't know what it's like!" he turned away from me.

"Ced, communicate with me. It's New Year's. Tell me what happened." I walk a little closer to him.

"You just don't know."

"Yes I don't know. So tell me!"

"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WATCH THE GIRL YOU LOVE FALL IN LOVE WITH ANOTHER BOY!" Cedric turned back toward me, crying.

I stare at him in shock. I had never seen Cedric cry like this before. He had always been my strong best friend, my knight in shining armor keeping me safe, even when he was upset, he put on a brave face for me. I breathe heavily, neither of us moving. From inside, I hear the partiers screaming the 10 second countdown to New Years.

Finally I break. I practically run up to him and throw my arms around his neck. Standing on my tiptoes, I connect my lips with his just as everyone inside screams 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!'. He grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him. Fireworks explode in my head. I finally feel whole again. After a couple moments, I pull away and look up at him.

"Just by the way, I said no to him."

"Yo-you said no to Donovin... for me?" Cedric wipes his eyes and smiles at me.

I smile and nod at him. He gives me a soft peck on my lips.

"I love you y/n/n. I always have."

"I love you too Ceddy. Please don't ever think differently for one second."

He grabs my hand and we go back inside the Burrow.
