Chapter - 12

ACE'S POV

"Mom!, Dad!, am off to School, but I will first go to Nick's house and go with him as I always do," I announced.

"Ok my boy, send my greetings to Nick", my mom replied from the Kitchen, she was cleaning the dishes.

"And remember to go to school early with Nick , because you will start your exams next week and you know this exams will determine whether you will be promoted or repeated", My dad added, he was in the living room reading news papers as usual.

"Ok mom and dad, bye "

"Bye son, take care", my parents chorused.

I left the house and headed to Nick's apartment. Nick's apartment is not far from our house, its only about 15 kilometers walk.
Nick is just like a brother to me, he might seem to be cold, bossy and a stone faced guy to others, but the truth is Nick is a very good guy, he is just like a coconut, it's hard on the outside but very soft and sweet in the inner part. I remember when we were kids, a boy in our class forced me to give him my food, I was so timid at that time, I couldn't stand up for myself, I was only 5 years then, and the bully was 8 years old, that's when Nick showed up, he stopped me from giving my lunch to the bully, what he did surprised me at that time. He kind of scared the boy away by threatening him with a spider, it was very funny to watch that, I realized something at that time, I realized that we need not to be afraid of bullies because they themselves have some weaknesses and most of them are even afraid of insects, some too are even afraid of the dark. The bully took to his heels the moment he saw the spider in Nick's hand, he never bullied me after that, I was very grateful to Nick, we became very good friends since then, he saved me multiple of times from our peers , and sometimes seniors,and Nick and his elder sister too helped me to stand up for myself, we became really close, how do you say it, yeah , we became what we call 'Blood Brothers', yeah although Nick's sister was a girl, we considered her as our older bro, she was eight at that time, I admired their braveness and courage, They were the the ones that taught me how to stand up for myself, Their  mom became good friends with my parents. Everything changed after what happened to Nick's mom and sis, we all grieved over them, Nick's case was different, it was like a big blow to him, and instead of his father supporting Nick, he rather despised him, that incident changed Nick , he is like that now because of what happened, since then, I vowed to stick to Nick's side in everything, because I think I owe him very much. I hope  someone makes him recognize his old self, and I think McKenzie is perfect for that, because apart from Nick's sister who scolded him, there is no girl who would dare point out his mistakes to him, and McKenzie did just that, I know she is a good girl.

I should text Samantha now, I last heard from her 2 days ago.

Sam, are you in the house now or at school?

Sam
Actually Kenz and I are on our way to school, wbu?

Ace
Am going to Nick's house

Sam
Ok, but why did you asked me if I was at home or not, why, would you pick me up😎

Ace
Naa, that's not it, I just wanted to know, bye take care see you in school soon.
Sam
Ok, see you then.

I was already at Nick's door when I texted Sam. I opened the  door and entered, and Man!, he was already dressed, its now 7:50 am , Nick would have been sleeping by this time, but it seems he is changing, Nick was in the Kitchen heating something up in the microwave.

"Bro, you are here", Nick said without looking up.
"Yeah, and what is that you are heating", I dropped my bag on the couch and went to the Kitchen.

"Oh, am just heating up the pasta your mom made for me" he was took two plates and switched off the microwave, he gave me a plate of pasta and took one for himself.

"Here have it, eat all up, I know you ate breakfast before coming here, but since you are here, you have to also eat whatever I give you" Nick said.

'Ok, I will,but not next time bro"

"Yeah, and I don't think there will even be a next time"
"Oh really, so you are planning to get rid of me right"

"Yeah, kind of"
"Ok noted".
"Hurry and finish your food, or else we will be late for school".Nick said this whilst he was sitting on the Island eating the pasta.

"Really, since when did you start to care about school", I joined him and sat down.

"That doesn't matter now, am done with my food, am going to wash my plate, wash yours yourself when you are done.

" Almost done bro", I finished the last pasta on the plate and joined Nick at the sink, to be honest, I really enjoyed my mom's pasta.
We finished cleaning the plates , we then headed for school.

"So class, that's all for today, we will be starting exams next week, so you all should prepare for the exam, you are now dismissed" the teacher ended and left the class, I haven't seen Sam and McKenzie, they didn't come to the cafeteria too.

" bro,  head home first, I have to take care of something, It will be late already when I'll be done, and I don't think you would want to be scolded by your parents".

"Oh ok, but make sure to go back early".

Nick then left , I would be going home alone then. I spotted Sam , she was also alone, it seems she is going home too, I caught up with her.

"Sam, I thought you guys didn't come to school, I didn't see you in the Cafeteria"

"Oh, that's because my mom made kenz and I lunch, so we ate it up in the classroom, and we were in the library studying for the exams, that's why you didn't see us."
" Ok, but where is McKenzie"
"Something came up so she left early, where is your paddy"

"You mean Nick, uh he had something to deal with so he asked me to go home, never mind, let me walk you home".

"Oh ok".

McKenzie's POV
Its pretty late , its 11 pm and am really exhausted.
I can't see anyone walking on the street , and the street lights are dim. Am somehow afraid now. As I was walking, I felt as if am being followed , I turned my back but I didn't see anyone, so I started to walk fast,

I got to the junction where we normally board bus, but it seems there will be no bus today. Heavens! Please help me, I continued to walk again, I turned my back again to see if I would see anyone, I didn't, I turned my face back to continue my journey only to see some goons coming over to me, I started to panic, who is going to save me from these people!, someone please help....

I Kind of wrote this chapter in the evening around 11 pm, am pretty scared myself now, Lol
