When we entered the fall, all I heard in my house was wedding plans; cakes, invitations, wedding farms, church... there were a lot of things to organize with anticipation.
The streets were getting crowded again, as almost the entire population had been vaccinated and there were very few restrictions, which made everyone happier than we had been in months.
November approached bringing a cold, strong wind and also exams for which I was extremely stressed; I didn't understand anything about Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry II was making me go insane. Me, Trina, and Francisco stayed in college almost every day after classes and he was being very nice, always asking me how I was and stuff like that which seemed a little strange.
-"I can't take this anymore", I said after I admitted to myself I was completely lost on that subject.
-"Sara, you can't, I am not doing this alone" replied Trina as if that had been a great motivation quote.
- "Don't say that, you can do it Sara I believe in you", Francisco said.
- "Oh I cannot give up so you won't feel alone being lost in Genetics, ok I get it. Thanks Francisco for not being like her. I'm going to go get us some coffee" we both laughed and Francisco gave me a great smile.
I was in the coffee machine and dropped some coins on the floor; with my wallet, one coffee in my hands and the other one getting ready, I felt a little bit in trouble. As I thought about a solution, I saw a shadow approaching me, and I was very nervous thinking that I was in someone's path.
- "Hey, do you need some help?"- the cute guy with the noisy friends was picking up my money and looking at me in a way I couldn't really understand.
- "Oh thanks"- I said embarrassed and tried to get out of there as fast as I could.
- "Wait, not so fast. I don't think we were properly introduced to each other and I kind of saved you a few times already. My name is Miguel, you're Sara, right?" Now I was sure I was blushing.
- "Yes, I am Sara, but I think "saved" is a strong word. Thanks again, I gotta go study."
- "Oh come on, I deserve more than that."
- "Do you? I don't really know you."
- "Exactly my point, you should.", and he smiled happily with himself, so I decided that I hated him from that moment on.
- "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not interested and I'm sure this must be a shock to someone like you - full of himself - but I'm not like the other girls."
- "That's true, I don't usually get that answer 'cause I have these eyes", and he looked at me like he was trying to impress me or something, "however, I am a very selective guy", and he made that smile again which made me hate him even more.
- "I'm sure you are, I just don't care.", and I turned my back on him, "Trina, here's the coffee. Have you figured out how you're going to explain Genetics to me?"
- "Oh my friend, I don't even understand how I'm going to explain it to myself."
- "So you do need my help again" Miguel was still there.
- "Your help?" I was trying to sound normal even though I felt my cheeks blushing again.
- "Yes, apparently you need help with Genetics and it turns out I'm very good at it."
- "I can help her, we don't need you, thanks" Francisco stood up and came over to our table.
- "Oh you're sweet but you're as lost as we are", Trina said impulsively "Sorry, but it's the truth."
