"Ladies and gentlemen! Don't forget that today is the day you receive your heart shaped lollipop and card! The card tells where to meet your valentine on Saturday, or maybe your true love." The announcement called.
"I can't believe you have the patience to keep doing this." I scoffed to Amber as I shoved my coat into my locker.
"Are you kidding me? These people count on their little Cupid year round. Look at them!" Amber pointed to a couple she had created two years ago and waved.
My best friend Amber has always been in deep love with movies. She has literally watched every single movie. It amazes me with the amount of time she has on her hands. Since we started High school, she does this thing for Valentine's. Everyone thought she was crazy, including myself. Now they all think she's a genius. I haven't changed my mind.
People fill out an index card with their information, leave it in a box at the front office, and wait a week before Valentine's for their stupid heart shaped lollipop and card. They receive a card telling them where their date will be and what to wear/ bring. They don't found out who it is until they arrive, which sounds like total ass, if you ask me. What if our she set them up with their ex or something? That'd be awkward.
Usually, I get a heart shaped lollipop sent to me, but only because I help her seal the cards.
"It's stupid, but whatever makes you happy." I smiled and threw my arm over her shoulder.
She dropped me off to my third period and went to the office to make sure everything was in place.
Third period flew by, then it was suddenly 8th period. The day went by pretty quick, but I wasn't complaining. The only thing I dreaded was that this class, people were supposed to receive their stupid card revealing their true love, and all I received was a dollar lollipop.
I could've put a card in the box, but I never did. I wasn't interested in any loser in this building, and knowing Amber, she'd set me up with someone I hate.
"Hey little love birdies! I'm here to pass out your cards!" A preppy boy yelled as he barged in the classroom, startling me out of my thoughts.
"Quickly, please." The teacher instructed and the boy rolled his eyes.
"Ready to know where you're going out on Saturday?" This guy named Jason behind me leaned over my shoulder and whispered in my ear.
I jumped at the whisper, not prepared for it.
I talked to Jason a decent amount, but I wouldn't say we're best friends. I'd hardly even say we're good friends. We like each others post and things like that, on each others close friends. We have each others number for projects and things. I will admit he is a sweetheart, but just so annoying at times.
"Nope. Didn't sign up to be set up with one of these loser." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.
"Why not?" He tapped on my shoulder as if I wasn't replying to him.
"Not interested." I shrugged.
"How about you, Wayne? Ready?" He leaned back in his seat and turned to his best friend in the seat beside him.
I took a glance to Wayne, and he was laying back with his legs on the desk. They were dangling because of his incredible height. As usual, he was wearing black joggers and a dark purple crew neck.
These two boys were known as "the hotties of the school." You know, the ones in movies? Yeah I call bullshit. I mean, yes, they definitely are hot. Like seriously, girls and guys drool at the thought of them.
I wasn't interested in them though. All they want is pussy and to brag to the other guys in this school how they could get any girl in under a minute. Boring. Plus, I know my worth. Unlike all these bitches in this hell hole.
There's Jason like I said, just so sweet and so bright. I often wonder how him and Wayne came to be best friends, but people wonder that about me and Amber all the time. He's one to bother a lot though. If you think of a golden retriever, that is exactly how Jason acts. Although he is a manwhore like I said, he sure is a sweetheart when it comes to it. You might not believe it either, but half the time it's the girls leaving him!
Then there's Wayne. Holy fuck, that boy sure is something. I hate that he's so movie core. He's everything you'd ever read about. Mysterious, dark, moody unless he's trying to get at someone. Even when he does, his heart doesn't open up. He's cold hearted, and he always will be.
Well, at least I learned my worth. Let's just say I wasn't the best behaved about three years ago. Used to drink, smoke, party all the fucking time. I've learned to settle down. Being drunk and high was just a waste of time for me.
"Shut the fuck up, Jay." Wayne growled and clenched his jaw.
"You lost the bet dude, you're fault." Jay laughed and Wayne rolled his eyes.
"We'll look at that! You got a card! Maybe we'll be paired." The boy that was handing the cards handed one to Wayne and winked at him before he left.
I heard Jason chuckle from behind, and I wanted to laugh along, but I held it in.
"This is stupid. Fucking stupid." Wayne complained.
I agree with that.
"You don't have to go, you know." I chimed in the small conversation they were having.
Wayne sat in his chair properly now, his eyes darted on me.
"I-I'm so fucking sorry, but did I give you permission to talk to me?" He slightly shook his head in disbelief.
My mouth barely opened as I let out a small gasp. I didn't have any wrong intentions. I just wanted to start a conversation.
"I was just informing you." I rolled my eyes and sucked my teeth.
"Do you want me to fuck you? Is that it?" He crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, a smirk forming on his face.
"Excuse you!?" I stood up from my chair and slammed my foot on the ground. Yes, I've matured over the years, but I'm not going to let this little bitch slide with this.
"Shut the fuck up, Wayne." Jason rolled his eyes, tugging on my arm to make me sit back down.
"Just speaking the truth." He huffed and roiled his eyes.
"Piece of shit." I mumbled under my breath before taking my seat.
"Bitch ." He scoffed.
"Go to hell." I snap back, now facing forward in my seat.
"I'll see you there." I could feel his eyes digging into my back, and I just know that smirk is on his face.
"Oh- well this is interesting. You've never had one before." The boy read the card in his hand and tossed it on my desk.
Am I seeing this right? A card, on my desk!? Wow, Amber really sucks at this pranking stuff.
"So much for not being interested, huh?" Jason snatches the card from my hand and tried to read it, but I snatched it back.
I knew this had to be fake, but if this was real, he couldn't read it. That was apart of the rules. No one could read each other's. That would just ruin the excitement of the whole event.
"I didn't sign up. I have never signed up. This, this is a mistake." I turned my body to the side, so that my legs were hanging in the row of empty space that was left for people to walk through.
"Well if you didn't, who did?" Jason laughed and slapped the table.
That. Bitch.
