Pulling up to the party was easy, but finding parking wasn't. Cars were lined up down the block, teens getting in and out with their bathing suits and towels. You could hear the house music playing from down the street, and suddenly life felt so real. The breeze made its way through the window and ran through my hair.

Here we are.

As we entered the scene of flashing low lights and teens everywhere, my eyes were met with the one and only Prince Charming.
He's playing pool, being the life of the party per usual. He's wearing turquoise swimming trucks with pineapples with sunglasses on them. Typical Jason.

Oh. You didn't think I was talking about Wayne, did you? Yikes!

After getting the 8ball in and winning the game, Jay looked up and locked eyes with me, making his jaw fall and grin grow. He immediately raced across the room with a smile, throwing himself over my body with a big hug.

"Well, I can tell you one thing, I sure didn't expect you to have the balls showing up looking this good with your new circumstances with Royce," Jason whispered to me while squeezing me extremely tight. My eyes almost fell out of their sockets when I heard him.

Our new circumstance? What does that even mean?

"Good to know you two had a fun gossip today!" I get on my tippy toes to whisper back.
"Oh, we always do when it's about you sweetheart." He winked, finally pulling away and adjusting his shorts shortly after.

Ew.

Don't worry, you look hot too Amy." He rubbed her head before appearing in the crowd again.

Somehow in the bit of time we've been here, Paige had wandered off already, leaving Amy and me in the middle of the floor.

The crowd only grew bigger by the second, and if Amber was here for anything, it was to find a boy. "I'm gonna go real quick okay? Wish me luck." She yelled in my ear over the loud music rising, but before she gave me time to respond she was already gone.

Great.

I decided to make my way outside through the crowd, where there turned out to be even a larger one because of the lake. I didn't come here to swim, I just came to look hot! I sat on the sand on a beach chair and lay there, trying to fulfill my boredom. This party pretty much blows so far. Maybe I just need a drink? Or Wayne. I think either or would make me feel better.

I started to wonder what's taking him so long to show up. It's already going to be like 9, and he's still not here? I can't give into my senses to text him. I have to keep it super casual, right? Maybe I should just go get a drink.

I got up from my spot and walked over to some random keg in the middle of the sand that was surrounding by some jock assholes. I approached this one named James, who I've had a couple of conversations with, so I knew he wasn't too bad.

"Hey James, do you mind getting me a cup?" I tapped on his back. He turned around with a smile but his face changed when he saw who it was. "woah." I heard a fall from his lips.

"Yeah, of course, Evelyn. Plan on drinking a lot tonight?" He shook his thoughts off and proceeded to get me the drink I asked for.

"Not really. Once I feel it kick inI'lll probably stop. I crossed my arms over myself feeling a bit insecure over how revealed I was, but that only made my girls look perkier. "Nice."

He thought I didn't see him look down when he said it, but he wasn't too slick. "Well let me know if you need anything else! I got you." I took the cup from him and walked off. I didn't want to be near there anymore tonight.

Now I know I looked good tonight, but did I look that good? I mean everyone's wearing bathing suits. What was so different about mine?

After a few rounds of beer pong with Paige, and dances with random chicks on the floor, there was still no sign of Wayne. I sat on the couch looking like an idiot, still waiting for him to show.

"You know you're all there is to talk about tonight, Eve." Jason approaches with two shots in his hand, handing one to me. He takes it down before taking a seat on the couch next to me. He signals me to open my mouth, and I do. He puts the shot glass up to my mouth and tilts it up as I chug it down.

"Whys that?" I wiped the remainder of the drink off my lips. "I told you that you looked good. II'mnot the only one thinking it." He laughed, throwing his arm around me.

"Too bad your friend isn't here to see it. You know I hear he's obsessed with me." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms, making Jay laugh.

"He'll show up before you know it sweetheart, just stay patient." He rubbed my head the same way he did Amy earlier. "What's taking him so long?" I couldn't help but ask. I didn't care if it made me look desperate, I just wanted to see him. I'mm not sure. That guy never tells. I'm surprised he opened up to you about..."

"Yeah, I am too." I didn't want to have to make Jason say it, especially since it wasn't onlyWayne'ss trauma, but his too.

"Life has been kinda hard on the both of us since then." "Hell, I handle it way much better than Royce does though. I worry about him sometimes." He continued.
"Me too," I whispered.

We sat in silence for a couple of seconds before he broke it. "Just do me a favor." I lifted my head from staring at the floor in response. "Whatever you do, please don't get mad at him tonight. I know how you are Evelyn." He stood from the couch and stressed his arms out, flipping his hair back with one hand.

"Sure, Christian." I grinned, calling him by his real name for the first time. He smiled with an eyebrow raised, in shock not expecting me to call him that. He had no words left, just a laugh before he disappeared off into the night again. After the shot Jason gave me, I finally felt it all kick in. Great. Now I'm a bit intoxicated, and Wayne still isn't it.

"Care to join me outside?" The voice made me turn pale. I felt my soul leave my body. At this moment, I realized that I would never be able to live in peace again.

"Do I care to? No, not really." I shrugged, trying not to entertain Kian. He is the last person I want to be seen with, let alone talking to.

"Ouch." He put his hand on his heart and pretended to be offended, then proceeded to sit in the spot Jay had just gotten up from. "Oh I don't recall giving you permission to sit there." I scoffed, scooting away from him, leading him to scoot closer.

"There's seriously no reason to be so rude, just wanted to catch up." He laughed and took a sip of his drink. I looked at him up and down, and I made sure to look at him crazy.

"Really, Kian? NO reason to be rude?" I tilted my head in confusion. I was genuinely confused as to how someone can be so oblivious.

"Okay, you have a reason, but Im sorry. I shouldn't have been an ass the other day." He sighed, confessing he was wrong. "Apology still not accepted, and probably wont be accepted!" I sarcastically smiled.

"C'mon Eve, I just wanted to talk tonight." He scooted in even closer, making me tense up. The whole time I tried not to make eye contact with him, but instead with the floor.

"I like admiring you without touching you. You look so beautiful tonight, has anyone told you?" His voice softened as he pet my head, putting a piece of hair behind my ear. Still looking at the floor, before I could react with my buzz, I see two feet stand in front of me.

"Ready to go, Cherry?"

About damn time.
