KNOCK...KNOCK...KNOCK...

The sound echoed through the old halls, only for a muffled voice to speak through the (just as old) wooden door.

"Come in."
The Commander gave his Captain permission to enter his office.

The hour was late, yet the two men were unfazed at being awake during the late hours of the night.

"Erwin..." he greeted.

"Levi... what is your business here?"

"I..."

...

...

...

"W-well you know, I just wanted to see how you were... handling things."

Erwin cocked a brow.

"You don't know what you're doing here, do you?"

"SIGH... normally I would be delivering paperwork to you at this hour... but now I just... don't know what to do with my hours."

"What do you mean?"

"Erwin, you know of my insomniac issues... and, normally, I spend my hours that I can't sleep, doing paperwork... paperwork that I don't have at this very moment."

"Hm...why don't you...you know..."

"Hm?"

"P...pr-y.."

"What? Erwin, speak up dammit!"

"...Pray about...it?... SIGH  Sorry, I'm still not used to saying stuff like that."

Levi looked to the side, feeling the awkwardness of the conversation.

"I...I haven't tried it... I just finished praying with the cadets, but I gave no mention about it."

"I see... how did cadets Eren, Mikasa and Armin react to YOU being a Christian?"

"Tch...can you really call me a Christian? I barely know anything about God. And do you really wanna ask?"

"Hm..."

Silence quickly enveloped the room, the two men weren't used to this kind of 'non professional' talk.

Normally, the Captain wouldn't talk unless it was about work... and the fact that he even HAD time to talk like this was a supernatural occurrence on it's own.

But there was a question Erwin had stirring up inside him, he knew what answer he would receive if he were to ask you... but he wanted to ask his Captain...to see his opinion.

"Levi... come sit real quick."

Erwin sat on a stool beside his massive office window and watched as Levi pulled up a stool for himself beside his colleague.

"What's on your mind?"
The Captain asked quietly, the lantern from the table reflecting on Erwin's face along with the moonlight from outside.

"I've been thinking about this whole situation... this whole thing where we are running into battle... following the orders of our CADET..."

"Um... you mean... 'Following orders from God THROUGH our Cadet."

"Yes, yes, sure... but what are your thoughts on it? Sure we've seen signs... but SHOULD we do this?"

Propping his ankle on top of his knee, Levi gave the question some thought.

Of course he could blurt out a 'Fleshy' answer which made sense to the human mind... but something told him to search deeper and try to understand it even more greatly.
