“Everybody needs inspiration
“Everybody needs a song
“A beautiful melody
“For when the night’s so long
“Cause there is no guarantee
“That this life is easy
“When my world is falling apart
“When there’s no light to break up the dark
“That’s when I look at you
“When the waves are flooding the shore
“When I can’t find my way home anymore
“That’s when I look at you.”
“That’s really good,” he said. I jumped. My guitar pick fell to the ground. I whipped around to face Lucas. He was propped up against the doorframe, his hands in his pocket. He was watching me. “Don’t stop. Keep going.”
“I have nothing else,” I said pushing my paper and pen aside. I placed my guitar on the floor, leaning it against the bed.
We had reached Destin a little over an hour ago. The whole rest of the trip, I was freaking out, trying to figure any way that would be possible in avoiding my mother. I knew I needed to get my mind off things and the only way to do that was grab my guitar and write down my thoughts. I hadn’t realized how long I had been in here. I glanced out the window and saw that the sun was setting. We had about twenty more shows of the tour and though that was still a lot, I kind of felt sad.
“You will though,” he said. He turned to walk away and then stopped. “It really is good.”
“Thank you,” I said. He smiled and then gave me a wink before walking out of the room. He shut the door and I sat that. I stared at the words on my page, wondering if it was good. The guys could tell me the song was good, but I wouldn’t believe it. I always felt like my songs weren’t complete, like there was something missing. I sighed, picking up my guitar and replaying what I had written.
There was a knock on my door about twenty minutes after Lucas had left. I rolled my eyes and set my guitar down. It was probably somebody telling me that I needed to come out of my room and breathe in fresh air. I literally had been cooped up in the room for the whole day. I stopped to eat once when Chase came in and brought me a slice of pizza. That was one thing I noticed. The boys loved their pizza.
I stood up and made my way for the door. I opened it and was immediately engulfed in a hug.
“Riley,” Hannah screamed. “I’ve missed you.” My friend stepped back, a huge smile on her face. I was confused, but more shocked to see her. Sonya stood behind her, smiling. She gave me a hug before the two of them entered my room.
