Trust.

The basic foundation of all connections between humans.

You trust the people you love the most, the one you call family. You trust your parents to pick you up from school.
You trust your sister to cover up the fact you came home at 2am.

Then there are the people, that had to work hard to earn your respect. These are your closest friends, that you can trust to keep all of your secrets.

Lastly, we have our significant other. Our partner in crime. Our other half. Soulmate. You trust them with your life. To be with you no matter what the life puts you through.

...

New Year's Eve. The night you are offered a fresh, new start. It's your choice will you accept it or refuse the opportunity you are given.

Sitting on the balcony in the cold air, with fifteen minutes left of 2020, holding a sparkly champagne glasses I was thinking about everything that I got the chance to see and experience.
I was thankful for all the memories I created.

And maybe, I was thankful for the fact the universe reconnected me with Olivier again.

It turned out I needed someone, who knows every bit of me. After our kiss back in October, a few weeks later, he messaged me.

It wasn't anything special, just a quick check of how may day was going.

I cannot be the only person, who gets extremely happy when people care enough to ask about your day. That short text message from him definitely made me happy.

We haven't stopped talking since that day. I was keeping him update with the wedding. He was telling me about his daughter or how he did at training. Small talks that were getting me through the day.

Some days we would sent each other funny dog videos or fail compilations. Talk about the last episode of Supernatural we watched. Or argue over Justin Bieber's moustache.

That lad has to shave it. Biebs looks like a homeless man with it.

We are acting like best friends, but we were actually trying to get as much attention as possible from the other.

I was staying up late, thinking and making scenarios in my head. What would it be like if we were still together, I haven't left London and everything was the way it was.

It consequences in doubt about if marrying Antoine was the right thing to do.

I truly love him and he is certainly the safe option in between the two.

I am going to have that perfect life, which everyone wants. Where you go on exotic vacations every summer or never have disagreements and never argue.

We are probably going to have five kids. The girls practicing ballet and the boys will be footballers like their father.

We will have huge family gatherings for Christmas and birthday parties.

And it does sounds appealing. Six months ago I would kill to have that.

Now, I think have something else in mind.

" Hey, thirty seconds left before midnight. Come inside."

Antoine grabbed my attention and pulled me back inside the warm room filled with all of our friends.

Theo and Lucas Hernandez were once again with us, thanks to the winter break in The Bundesliga and Serie A.

My sisters, Alana and Aliana were taking selfies with the dogs in front of the Christmas tree, that was still in the corner of the room.

Antoine filled my glass with some champagne. I love champagne. It's bubbly and fun.

They were counting the last seconds.

" Five, four, three, two, one!"

Everyone was screaming, hugging and congratulating on the new year. My head was somewhere else in that moment. Somewhere in London.

I took a sip from my alcoholic beverage and moved closer to my fiancé, trying to fill the need for someone to touch me.

With the corner of my eye, I was Lucas leaning towards my older sister trying to kiss her,but she stopped him midway putting a hand over his lips and shook her head.

Theo immediately took his phone out of his pocket to capture the moment.

" Happy new year, Love. The first of many that we will spend together."

Antoine whispered in my ear and kissed the side of my head.

The first of many we will spend together.
