Every year Louis always went to his mum’s house for Christmas, and this year was no exception. The only difference was this year he had Harry. He had rescued Harry from the horrible conditions of the hybrid shelter back in October, and things had been going great so far. Harry was sweet and polite and although he had abandonment issues and tended to cling to Louis sometimes, Louis didn’t mind at all. It was good for him; he needed someone to be there for him just as Harry needed someone there for him.

Harry had been sitting on the carpet in front of the couch, his tail wrapped around the front of him as he watched with a smile as some of Louis’ family’s kids played with their new toys. Harry was good with the kids, and they seemed to like him a lot. The smaller ones would pull at his tail or ears sometimes, but he stayed calm and just kindly asked them to please stop. But one of the girls that was old enough to know that it was mean wouldn’t stop yanking on his tail. “Please stop.” He murmured patiently, try to pull his tail out of her grasp; but she just yanked harder, making Harry accidentally hiss at her in defense, something that slipped but made the girl’s eyes widen as she yelled for her mom.

“Mum Louis’ cat hissed at me!” She called from across the room, putting on a hurt expression and Harry’s heart dropped.

“I-I didn’t mean to, s-she…” He stuttered in panic. He didn't want any of Louis’ family to dislike him.

“I was just sitting here and he hissed at me and tried to scratch me!” She exaggerated, and Harry looked at her with wide eyes.

“N-No I didn’t!” He felt tears brim his eyes as Jay came over and pulled the girl away from Harry protectively, having seen him hiss but hadn’t seen what the girl did and that’s when Harry realized that the girl was one of Louis’ sisters.

“Outside.” She said sternly, pointing to the door.

“I-I’m sorry I didn’t-” He stammered, trying to explain himself as a tear rolled down his cheek.

“Go.” She said, more forcefully this time.

"Mum, stop" He said in a serious tone of voice. He glanced at Harry, and he could notice he was saying the truth. He was really nice with everyone, so it was almost impossible that he tried to scratch someone. "Harry is really nice. Trust me, he didn't do anything. I know him." He said, smiling at him and reaching out to stroke his cheek.

Harry looked up at his owner and smiled apologetically. He felt horrid for causing this whole situation. "Louis-" Jay began and sighed. "Fine, but you can go take him to your room if you don't want to put him outside. I don't want him to end up scratching one of the girls."

"But mum... I want him to stay here with us. He's never scratched me, not once." Louis replied. "He's a good boy. He wouldn't be here if not." He continued to say, as he stroked Harry's curly hair.

Jay watched Harry lean into her sons hand and purr softly from the back of his throat, forgetting that he was in trouble just a few seconds ago. It was a cute sight, she had to admit to herself and sat on the sofa resigned and 'okay'd' Louis. "He can stay then, but watch him closely." Harry's head snapped up and smiled apologetically at her, showing off his dimples and mouthed a thank you before sitting on Louis lap.

"I'm really sorry, sir..." He whispered and put his ears down, ready to get scolded.

"It's okay" Louis whispered back, smiling. "I know it wasn't your fault at all. And call me Louis. I've been trying to get you to call me Lou for the past few months." He sighed and smirked. "Are you okay, Harold?"

"I'm fine." His cheeks tinted a rosy pink color and his heart skipped a beat. Louis smile always did this to him and he wasn't sure why it affected him so much. He leaned back so that his back was up against his owners chest and breathed contentedly. "Thank you... for everything." He whispered, barely audible enough for Louis to hear. He hoped he hadn't though, he wanted to keep himself from letting Louis hurt him... which he knew was going to happen eventually when he got bored with him and abandoned him like his last owner.
