The forest

I was thirsty. I had never been more thirsty in my life. But after remembering everything that had happened, I blinked my eyes open in a restless haste. When I looked around I couldn't believe where we were. It was the most beautiful place I had ever laid eyes on. The light streamed like ribbons sporadically through the trees , winding its warmth between the cold and damp undergrowth.

The short girl with wild curls and a huge jacket was standing up, turning in circles in the forest in front of me. Honestly, I was reacting the same in my mind. I had no clue where the fuck we were and you know what, I think that might be best for now. I untangled my aching body from the undergrowth and stood.

All around us was the most beautiful forest I had ever seen. And that aching thirst that was causing my throat to ache, was cured from the mere sight of the small stream that winded next to us. I felt drawn to the water like some strange drug, just like how I had felt at the party. I had resisted the pull to go in the woods all night but when Defne freaked out and I figured it wasn't only me, I started running. I had that same relief feeling looking at the water now.

"Hey, do you know where the others are" I asked the girl. She turned to face me and relief flooded her eyes , as if the distraction of the forest had meant she only realised my presence at this point.

"No , I don't know what the fuck happened, I woke up here , I can remember falling , kind of. But I think I passed out. It's all a big h-haze really. A-and n-now, now i have these", she turned her back to me then. and i saw what her jacket had blocked from my sight previously. A huge pair of brown feathered wings were settled on her shoulder blades. They were massive with small horned tips at their peak above her shoulders. She stretched them out and pulled their large forms around her , like a huge blanket.

I'm pretty sure my jaw was wide open in shock. She turned around to face me again though, and she had a few silent tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Lets just figure out where on earth we are, and find the others, because - because maybe then w-we'll f-find somewhere to stay. Or someone to help", she was shaking. Her words tumbling over one another. And I must have been on the biggest trip of my life, so I just nodded.

But then another voice joined us.

"Ya know, I'm not so sure we're even on earth". I swivelled around so fast , this new body was shocking . It was Defne , fuck thank god. I ran over to her and we gripped each other tightly. The other girl next to us , stood shaking beside us. Why the fuck did this happen? Where the hell were we, and where was everyone else? Defne had began to clutch me tighter as if she could sense my fear, and it was so calming that I closed my eyes and for the smallest second, I imagined this was a dream.

"We should find the others", Defne said once we had pulled apart. I was too lost for words to reply , but me and the other girl nodded to that still.

"Defne", she held her hand out to the girl with the wings , "and this is Nadia", she motioned at me.

"S-sara," the girl replied with a small easy smile and shook Defnes hand.

I didn't even know how she had it in her to smile at a time like this, there was tension coming of me and Defne in waves, but I guess she was just one of those people that were quick to smile. Even when i was sure we'd just tumbled into actual hell.

We turned to look back at where we had fallen , making the connection that whatever our bodies were now , was what allowed us to survive that fall. We were all unsettled but something about being here felt , familiar. Like some strange dream where we would walk out the forest and wake up back at the party. Except we probably wouldn't wake up. And I had a definitive feeling there was no way to get back home.
