Song: run away - the ugly boys
Once the king had been introduced to us, and got over the surprise that we could match his power equally, he had moved from the throne and walked through another door to take us to where soldiers , and him, would train usually.
It was a wide open courtyard with a high barrier that cut off the area from a huge drop beyond. It looked wide over the city like a viewpoint of everything. There were soldiers already here , moving like blades themselves , slicing the air itself with their precision.
We had been introduced to a wide array of weapons and, god, the feeling of being around this much metal set goosebumps along my skin. I was in heaven.
There was a small blacksmith area in the corner and when I felt myself gravitate towards it I relished in the power I felt. It was a small pool of molten lava , likely kept warm through some type of magic, I could feel it's heat all through the courtyard. There was a huge slab of metal that had supposedly been taken and refined in their metal scorcher the day before. Lorcan mumbled that to me but I had already began to walk towards it.
The other had already chosen their weapons. Isa with a huge blade across her back and throwing stars at her waist. Defne with an elongated Elven sword that was made from what looked like glass but was actually something much stronger. Arrchana with a sword she had made from the shadows , it leached black smoke and seemed to suck in the light from the air. Everyone was already a weary of us I could tell.
There were soldiers that looked at us with curiosity and eyed us with awe too. The prince had said that everyone in the city had a vague idea of the prophecy. We all knew that it had been unexpected that the seven of us all hadn't made it. I was wracked with the reminder of the safety I had felt when we were all together. Now all I could remember of each of them was from the brief night we had laid in the forest together. It was fucked up and I could tell it wasn't right that we were apart. I needed to learn how to fight so that I could save them. We needed each other.
I walked closer to the slab and in a flash the metal seemed to unwind in rivulets that spun through the air. I spun them around my form and then picked what I sought to make of them.
I formed them into a kind of armour around me. It moved constantly with my skirt and seemed to take on a liquid form. And then I concentrated further. The metal shaping itself like clay into an intricate metal spear.
Well fuck I didn't miss home right now. This was pretty cool. Hopefully my new body was familiar with how to handle weapons, something about it all seemed much more familiar in this world. The way I held the spear in my hand seemed to fit perfectly with my balance.
"Well come on then , show me what you've got", the king said. He was standing by Lorcan and Isa , who had drifted together like magnets. He was twirling a long sword in his grasp. Show off.
I approached him then separately. He had moved towards me. I don't know why he felt the need to constantly goad me. Prick. I think he really wanted to anger me.
I looked to my right. Arrchana had begun to train with a guard who looked to be the only guard here not intimidated by our presence. Defne was watching the small lesson closely. Isa and Lorcan were already sparring with their words, spitting curses at each other while twirling their weapons in anticipation and grinning devilishly.
"Hey, why are you looking at my brother and general, I'm the main show darling. Don't you know?". I whipped my head around to him now.
"You know , I've only known you half an hour and I already can't stand you".
