My head...

It hurts...

All these images piling on top of one another, smothering the canvas of my mind. I see two people smiling, crying throughout multiple lifetimes. Both seeing their end with anguish in their hearts. Happy moments never lasting any longer than the shortest life shared.

"Yang Zi Huo?" My voice struggles to be heard as if something was dragging onto each word.

"Yuxing?!" He is sitting next to me, his hands reaching for mine, holding them dearly. "Yuxing, can you hear me?"

Slowly, the memories fade away and the loud piecing of echoes disperse. I open my eyes to the strange room. The ceiling appears to have a night sky drawn on its surface with light violet influence, and a sea of stars laminates another layer.

My eyes meet his, another riveting flow of unsteady ocean lure. My body moves on its own, and I sit up with arms immediately wrapping around his neck, pulling him close. I can sense the chill layer of his skin against mine. Tears dropping from my cheek down to his shoulder. In return, he embraces me just as tightly.

After a moment, I realize what I was doing. I was holding on so dearly to the infamous Demon King!

I push him away and say, "Apologies, I don't know what came over me. It must have something to do with this woman's memories. I felt them so intensely."

Holding onto my hands, he tries to smile. "Yuxing, those are your memories."

"Th- They are?!"

"It's been a long time. Over ten-thousand years. Your memories have returned, but I guess your heart and mind is still not ready to accept..."

Not ready to accept? How strange. I did look a lot like the woman in the memories before her last life. We even share a name. These memories must have been kept locked in my Underworld files. So my fate with the Demon King have been intertwined since a long time ago. I still feel so out of place...

"Uh, your hand?" I say. He is still holding my hands with a firm grasp and releases when I bring our attention to the contact.

"It will take time for you to adjust." He stands, his eyes wavering nervously. "As long as you are here with me, time is all we need."

I nod. His awkward stance starts to make me self-conscious, reminding me of every detail that makes me blush. His presence feels distant but also familiar. His lips, chest, every inch of his body, I can recall in my mind.

"Can you hand me a mirror?" I ask. Unable to look at him, I look down while he searches the room for a mirror. Returning, he hands a small porcelain mirror encrusted with red and green gems over. I bow my head to show thanks and take the mirror to review the new face I have possessed, although it is not technically new at all. It seems I was just reusing a face I had from long ago.

"What is this?" I turn my face left and then right as I examine it in the mirror. "My face is still the same?"

"It looks like when you entered your mortal form, your essence molded your face to match your spiritual state."

"How can that be possible? I've never heard of any spirit doing such a thing. Changing a vessel's outer appearance like this."

"Yuxing, you are not like other mortal souls. Your inner powers are actually strongly veiled and quite overpowering when activated."

"Right. I remember absorbing the Marvel Sphere. Now all of its energy exists blended with my soul."

I look around the room. The light shining through emphasizes the gold decorations. Looking up at the Demon King I ask, "So where are we?"
