Ducem Mortis | The Mandalorian

"Astraea." I turned around at the sound of my name to reveal the Mandalorian in front of me. He reached out, pulling me into his chest. I smiled in content as he held me. "And the child?" I asked as I pulled back to look up at him. "He's sleeping." I nodded my head before pulling out of his grip, but never leaving his side. I turned to face the view in front of us. His hands came up from behind me, wrapping around my waist.

The nearest star was warming my skin as I closed my eyes. I was in a pure bliss.

"Astraea." This time when the Mandalorian said my name by eyebrows furrowed together. His tone was off. I opened my eyes before turning around to face him. His hands were no longer comfortably resting on my waist, but rather at his sides. I noticed that he was looking at the ground and instead of me. "What's wrong?" I asked as I took a step forward only for him to take a step back.

"You lied to me."

My blood ran cold as I knew what he was talking about. I started to shake my head, denying the truth. "No, no it wasn't like that. I didn't mean to-."

"Didn't mean to what, make me care about you only to betray me in the end." I took a step forward trying to reach out towards him only for him to draw back a couple more steps. "I trusted you." His words echoed around me causing goosebumps to rise to my skin.

He trusted me and I betrayed him.

"I'm sorry." I said as tears started to form in my eyes. "Yeah, so am I." I watched as he pulled out his blaster, pointing it at my head. On instincts my hand reached out, grabbing my katana. "Din," I spoke as I had never spoke his first name before. "Don't do it, you and I both know I could kill you." His pointed blaster at me didn't lower any causing me to shiver. "Are you going to be able to kill me Astraea. Or are you going to be the Ducem Mortis that you were always meant to be." I glared at him before swinging my katana at his blaster causing it to fall out of his grip. He raised his arm out causing fire to admit from it but before I could get burned I swung my katana at him. I knew it wouldn't have hurt him, because of his beskar. But all of sudden the fire stopped.

As if everything else was against me in this moment, this action was no different. For my katana had pierced him, right in the heart. An airy gasp left my lips before a scream followed. I ripped out the katana but it was too late. Din's body fell back as he hit the ground. My katana left my grip as I threw it to the side. "No, no, no, no. Din look at me, look at me. Everything's gonna be alright."

But I knew differently. He was going to died because of me. I felt Din's hand come up to my check that was stained with his blood, "Looks like your mission is complete." Tears ran down my face at his words before his strength gave out causing his hand to fall from my cheek.

I screamed as I opened my eyes. I shot up from the familiar bed that I was in, I was in Sorgan. I could feel the beads of sweat on my forehead as my hair sticked to it. Seconds later the flap to the doorway was opened following the Mandalorian and Omera. I sighed as his appearance made me realize that it was just a dream.

No a nightmare.

The Mandalorian stayed by the door as Omera quickly paced towards me. She put her hand on my head before also on my cheek, "You're running a fever. I think it's due to your wound you got from the fight, I'll be right back." Omera spoke before she turned around and left the hut. I looked at the sheets I was laying under, as looking at the Mandalorian right now was too much for me. I just saw the man die, no I just killed the man.

"Are you okay?" I nodded my head, still not looking at him before licking my lips. "It was just a dream." I heard footsteps in front of my before I saw him sit at the edge of my bed. "Sounded like a lot more then a bad dream." I looked up at him as he spoke before I shook my head. "Can we not talk about it?"
