December 20 2005~

Kyle Stephens was the good-looking young son of Mr. Richard Stephens, the billionaire businessman and his wife, Mrs. Maria Stephens. They appeared to be a very happy family. But, it was all a facade. The dark truth was unknown to the rest of the world, but the Stephens family was a broken family. Kyle's father would have affairs with several women during his business trips, while Kyle's mother came to terms with her husband's infidelity. Mr. Stephens was very abusive towards Kyle and his mother. One day, Kyle's mother could not tolerate the oppression any longer, and she ran away to her ex-boyfriend and first love, Mr. Oliver Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a widower with a young son, Liam. Maria would always go to Mr. Johnson with her problems, and he would help console her. They revived their relationship which ended back in college, and they got married as soon as Maria left her husband. As a result, Richard Stephens was enraged and he began to show his anger on his son. He was very abusive towards Kyle, and as a result, Kyle developed antisocial personality disorder. Kyle did not have any friends, and he was very lonely. He felt betrayed by his mother, who he held a grudge against for running away. After his father attempted to attack him with glass shards, Kyle dialed the police, who then took his father away. Kyle was evicted from his mansion, because his father had committed misappropriation and embezzlement of funds. Young Kyle was immediately deserted -- no where to go, no where to stay. 

Evelyn Peters was the beautiful young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peters, a homely couple residing in the poverty-stricken area of the city. Mr. Peters was an alcoholic, while Mrs. Peters had bipolar disorder. The Peters family was always in a chaotic mess. Evelyn and her mother were constantly abused by her father, who was constantly annoyed at his wife's moody antics and spasmodic emotional outbursts. Her father had an alcohol addiction, and that spurred him to be more violent and abusive towards his family. Evelyn's mother's depression spiraled, and she ended up drinking herself to death. Evelyn's father was remorseful about his wife's death, and this only made him more abusive towards Evelyn. At one point, Evelyn ran away, because she couldn't tolerate it any longer. However, Young Evelyn was all alone. No friends, no family. 

On the streets, their paths intersected. It was December 20th, 2005, when Kyle and Evelyn first made eye contact with each other.
