Like that, time passed by. One day, at a party, Laura accidentally bumped into Liam. At the sight of her, Liam said, "Laura? Is that you?" Laura stared in shock. Liam continued, "Well, it's been a year. How have you been?" Laura was confused and shocked. She was certainly not pleased. She was surprised that the man who openly flirted with her and blackmailed her into having sex with him was politely talking with her. 

Laura: What's wrong with you? Why are you like this?

Liam: Well, honestly, after that night, I've been thinking about you. I was expecting you to call me, but you never did. And we never happened to run into each other, until today. I realized I liked you, so I'm glad I ran into you today. 

Laura: Good to know, but I don't care. Let me say this -- you blackmailing me was not cool. But the past is in the past. I'm considering it a one night stand. That's all. There's nothing between us. 

Liam: But-

Laura: If you really "like" me, we can start over as friends. But only friends. 

Liam: Sure, I would like that. 

But Liam did not like that. He wanted to be more than friends with Laura, the woman who has been on his mind for the past year. The only woman he has ever genuinely loved was his ex-girlfriend Maryn, who broke his heart. After Maryn, the next woman Liam felt an emotional connection to was Laura. Liam was unable to forget what happened with Laura, and was hoping they would meet again. He broke off his engagement with Gabriela, after she eloped with her boyfriend. Although Liam did change for the better after his encounter with Laura, he was still a womanizer. After chatting with Laura, Liam went on to flirt with other women. Laura laughed at the sight of this, because she knew he'd never change. Liam was very aggressive, and he would always make sure everything went his way, especially with women. In other words, he was a fuckboy. Laura really hated Liam's guts, but she decided to become "friends" with him, after he pleaded her so earnestly. 

Eventually, they became good friends. They went out for dinner, went bowling, went to basketball games, and formed good friendships with each other's friends. They started becoming really good friends, and would rely on each other for emotional support often. However, their friendship was quite toxic. Liam was too possessive of Laura. He never let any other guy hit on her. If another man were to hit on her, he would get too overprotective and would punch the guy. However, he would continue to flirt with several women, in front of Laura. Even when Laura would get mad at him for flirting with others, he would shut her up and continue to flirt. Liam would often get mad at Laura over petty things, and he would always ghost her. But he claimed to love her. Every now and then, he would bring on the subject of dating, and would continue to ask her out. 

Eventually, Laura got tired of Liam constantly asking her to date him. So, one day, she said to Liam, "Liam, let's date."
