"Hey uh hun?" Hange walked into the kitchen to see you washing the dishes. You don't turn your head and hum. Hange fiddles with their hands and looks down. "Are you upset that... I'm not a girl..?" You finally look at them. Hanges eyes were glossy with tears and their face was scrunched up to keep them from crying. You put the plate down and turned the water off. You started walking up to them, wiping your wet hands on your pant legs. "What made you think I was upset?" You cupped Hanges face one you walked up to them. They refused to look at you. "I-I just,," they sniffed as tears started to form.
"Oh... Hange.." You hugged them tightly as they broke down. "Hunny, what made you think I was upset? Did someone say something?" Hange nodded. "At,, at my job." Hanges crying turned into loud sobbing. You yourself were starting to tear up. Your soft spot was your beloved and when they were hurt, you also hurt. "Who? Who at your job?" You started pulling yourself and Hange to the ground and sat on the floor. "A new coworker." You nodded, running your hand through their greasy hair and hushing them. "Do you mind explaining further or do you just want to cry?"
"I," Hange took a long shaky breath, "I can explain." You shifted so Hange was sitting in your lap while one of your hands were hung around their back and the other hand was in their hair. "S-since I would be training them and helping them get used to the hospital, I had to spend all day with them. They," another long breath, "they kept calling me "she, her, miss," and I told them "h-hey,, I'm not a girl. I use the they/them pronouns."" Hange sobbed louder. "They started calling me the T word and they kept on being so,, so mean to me." You gasped and pulled Hange out from your neck.
"Are you fucking kidding me?! You need to report that!" You yelled but quieted down when you saw how shaken and broken Hange looked. "Baby, I'm sorry. I'm just.. upset. I'm upset that this happened and if you want, I can call your workplace for you and report the issue. I'm sure Erwin would do something. He's a good man." You whipped the tears from Hange face and they hiccuped. "Can you please do that for me?" You kissed the corner of Hanges mouth. "Of course. When would you like me to call?"
"Now please." Hange wiped their face with their sleeve. You lightly pinched their cheek and smiled sadly at them. "Ok hun. Hey settled on the couch and I'll call. I'll be there in a minute." Hange got off you and you stood up. "What's the persons name?"
"(Some random ass name idfk)" Hange stood up as well, small hiccups coming up from their throat. You nodded and went to step outside with your phone. "When I'm out here, grab some blankets and get a movie ready. When I get back in, I'll make some snacks." Hange chuckled. "Yes boss." They sniffed one last time and got to work on the little nest of the couch. You went out into your backyard and pulled out your phone. You called Erwins office.
"Hello this is White Blossom Clinic my name is (random name) speaking, how may I help you."
"Hello, may I speak to Dr. Smith?" You heard fast clicking noises.
"Yes I can. Please hold." The phone started playing music as you waited. It took only 15 minutes for Erwin to final pick up. "Hello this is Dr. Smith speaking, how may I assist you?"
"Hi this is (F/N). Hanges partner." You can feel his grin from the other line. "Hello (F/N). Is there a problem." You took a shaky breath and started talking. You explained everything. What Hange told you, the person's name, how Hange reacted. You almost started yelling out of anger but Erwin didn't deserve your anger. All you heard were small hums. "That is very unacceptable. I will have to meet with them tomorrow. If Hange wishes to pull themselves out of work for tomorrow, they may. I can understand how they would feel anxious about coming into work."
"Thanks so much. I'm sure Hange will call you later but they asked me to do it." Erwin hummed. "Alright, if that's everything, you are free to go unless you need anything else."
"No I'm good. Thank you so much." You said your goodbyes and hung up. You slammed your hands on the fence. "God dammit!" You cried. Hange was the one who was hurt the most but it still stung when this happened. You heard the sliding doors open and out stepped Hange. They had a blanket wrapped over their shoulders and they looked like they were still crying. "Oh baby." You walked over to Hange and hugged them, swaying back and forth. You both stood there, crying quietly. "Ok, we need to go inside. It's cold." You said and started pulling them into the house. Once inside, you both migrated to the nest of a couch and got settled. Hange snuggled into your neck and looked towards the TV.
"Did you pick a movie?" Hange hummed and grabbed the remote to turn on (random movie). The rest of the night was spent either cuddling or small crying fits. It was a painful night but a pleasant one.
