"Mom ? Pa ? Can I talk to you guys ?" You turned your head to your son Armin and Hange looked up from their computer. You put down whatever you were doing and sat down at the kitchen table next to Hange. "Yes ?" Armin slowly sat down in front of you and looked down at his hands.
"You remember when,, I talked so much about that boy Eren in my class ?" You both nodded. "Well uh,,, we're actually not friends. We're,, dating."
"WHAT ?!" Hange screamed but you hit their shoulder. "Oh honey ! I'm so proud of you." You huddle over to Armin to give him a hug. He smiled nervously and hugged you back while Hanges mouth hung open from across the table. "Wait wait wait,,, how long have you two been dating ?" Hange closed their laptop.
"About two months-"
"TWO MONTHS ?!"
"HANGE STOP SCREAMING !"
"What's going on...?" Gabi slowly walked into the kitchen, rubbing her tired eyes and dragging her favorite plushie. You turned to your daughter and squatted down to her level. "Oh honey, I'm sorry Pa and I woke you up."
"Ok fine. I'll give this kid a chance. Invite him over for dinner tomorrow night around 4pm sharp. He better not be late." You scoffed at your significant other. "Tell Eren to come to the house anywhere between 4 or 5 pm." Armin hurried to his room to text his boyfriend, Gabi following behind to go back to bed.
"Hange, don't give this kid a hard time. Please ? For me ? For Armin ?" Hange sighed and agreed. That's when you two headed off to bed for the night
-next day-
At 4:30pm, there was a knock at the door. Armin tried to hurry to the door but Hange beat him there. And there was Eren, hands shoved in his band sweatshirt. "Is this,, Armins house ?" Eren tries to look behind Hange but was cut off. "Yes this is his house." They stared Eren down. You crept up behind Hange and gasped when you saw Eren. "You must be Eren ! I've heard so much about you !" You shoved Hange in the house and held your hand out for him to shake. He smiles and grabs your hand.
"Come in come in ! It's getting chilly." You opened the door wider for Eren. Armin ran up to Eren and hugged him while you went back to the kitchen. "You two can go upstairs and stay up there until the Pizza gets here. We're having a movie night if that's fine with you."
"Uh,, yeah ! That's totally fine with me." Eren smiled at you, refusing to make eye contact with Hange who was death glaring at him from behind their laptop. Armin and Eren ran up the stairs, giggling like the young lovers they were. "Hange." Hange gulped at the tone you sent them.
"Stop glaring at this boy. Give him a chance. He wasn't like the last guy, I can tell you that." You sighed, leaning against the wall. Hange looked down as the memories flooded back in. Armin had another boyfriend before Eren. All the late night panic attacks Armin had because of him, the pressure to do things he wasn't ready for, the times Gabi came to you saying Armin was in her room again because he was so scared to talk to you. Hange used to be cool with relationships. But that guy ruined everything for them.
"... ok fine." You smiled and kissed Hanges cheek. "Thank you." You smiled. A few minutes has passed since then and the pizza finally arrived. "BOYS ! GABI ! FOOD !" Both you and your partner heard three sets of feet. First Gabi skipped a step, then Armin almost slipped on the hardwood floor, then Eren chased and laughed after Armin.
As the family was getting their own plates, you came in the kitchen with a movie in hand. "How's corpse bride sound ?" Eren almost choked on his food. "I love that movie !" You clapped and went back to set up the living room to fit 5 people.
-time skip-
You all were halfway in the movie. You and Gabi were already passed out and Armin was sleeping against Erens side. But you were woken up by the sound of chatter. You opened your eyes a bit to see Hange and Eren actually conversating. "And that's what I do for a living. What do you want to do after you graduate ?" Hange asked Eren. He just chuckled and rubbed Armins thigh. "Well I haven't thought that far yet. Maybe something to do with computer science ?" Hange nodded.
The conversation continued on but you didn't bother listening further. You were just happy your partner and your son's boyfriend were getting along.
