Nick's POV

I liked having Brooks at the game. Being the new, young guy on the team meant that I was new among a room of long friendships. Living with Auston helped, we are both quiet people. I got home from the game and dropping Brooks off and I walked into my place and Morgan and Auston were sitting on the couch. "Look who it is!" Auston says from the couch and I see Morgan look up at me. Morgan had found out that I had gone out with Brooks from Auston.

"Hey guys." I pass the living room and get changed into comfier clothes. I come back out and sit on the couch with the rest of them.

"Nice job out there tonight." Morgan says to me. He seems normal.

"Thanks, you too. Nice on the power play."

"Thanks. I know that you know that I know." I see Auston's eyes get bigger.

"Yeah I figured." I look at Morgan.

"I just want you to know I'm like her brother here and she's important to me, but at the same time it's not my business so I just hope you treat her right and I know she likes you."

"I understand. I really like her Mo." I say turning soft.

"I know you do. After the road trip my girlfriend is going to be in town and I'm going to have Brooks, Auston, and Mitch with his girlfriend for dinner so if you want to tag along you're more than welcome."

"I'll have to talk to Brooks, but that would be great." I smile thinking about her.

"Is she coming to the game tomorrow?" Morgan asks

"No, she's got school." I say kinda upset about it, but I know that it's not anyone's fault.

"If this works out, maybe I'll let you put your name under the reservation on her seat." Morgan gets up to get another water.

"Wait she sits in the same spot every time? How did I not know that?" Auston chimes in.

"Its where I sat at the draft with her so she keeps tradition." Morgan says.

at the game the next day

I had messaged Brooks on what I should wear and she helped me pick it out. I had FaceTimed her before I left for the game. She told me she would put the game on while she studied but I told her that it wasn't necessary. When I went out for practice I subconsciously looked for her in the seat I got her last night and where Morgan always reserves her a seat. The one row had a family occupying it, while the other stayed vacant. As the game went on, we started to play better, but ultimately ended up losing to the Vancouver Canucks 3-1. The energy was pretty low in the locker room. I got ready to head home after the game, but I see a message from Brooks just as I am sitting in my car ready to leave the rink.

Brooks: "Tough loss. I'm sorry. You can come over if you want and we can watch suits together."

Me: "Thanks. Sounds great. Let me get changed from my suit and I'll see you soon :)"

Brooks: "The door is open, just come in :)"

I drive home and get dressed into some grey Nike sweatpants and a black hoodie and head over to Brooks'. I walk into her apartment to see her sitting at her desk in front of the huge windows. "Hey." I say walking up to her desk.

"Hey. I'm sorry about the loss." She turns to me. Her desk is scattered with books and her laptop open.

"It's okay. I definitely missed you there. Did you watch it here?"

"I did. I had it on the tv." The TV was still on TSN, but was now showing commercials. "But, let's change that and we can watch Suits." She gets up and closes her computer, leaving her books sprawled out on the top of the desk. I sit down on the couch and Brooks gets the remote and joins me.

"Okay, what's the show about? I don't really know what it is." I admit.

"Okay, it's about some hotshot lawyer who hires a guy who isn't a lawyer."

"Sounds fun." We start watching the first episode and we end up cuddling. Brooks had her head in my lap and I ran my hand through her hair. It felt like we'd been dating for months, but I just met her.

She looks at the time on her Apple Watch. "What time is practice tomorrow?" She asks sounding tired.

"Skate is at 11. Why?" I ask softly.

"I would be okay if you slept here ya know."

"Ok. If you are tired we can both go to bed."

"I have a tv. In my room. We can watch it there." Sure enough if Brooks was asking if I wanted to sleep in her bed with her then she must feel the same.

"Ok. Whatever you'd like." She gets up and her hair is messy and she looks cute. She leads me up the stairs into her room. She flicks on the tv and gets in her side of the bed. The one closest to the window. Shocker. I take my shirt off and get in bed beside her. I can feel her get closer to me under that blankets. We watched the show more and I turn to Brooks. "How many times have you seen this?"

"Uh probably 3 times. Now you've got something to watch on the road."

"Yeah, we fly out tomorrow night so I'll have to keep watching. It's actually really good." I'm going to miss seeing Brooks while we are on our road trip.

"I'm glad you like it." We continue to watch it and I look over to see Brooks sleeping on me. I try not to move too much as I get the remote to turn off the tv. I wake up the next morning to the sun shining through the giant windows. I see Brooks is sitting up and looking out the window. "Good morning." She whispers noticing me wake up.

"How long have you been up?" I ask.

"Ah I usually watch the sunrise. I like it. It's calming."

My phone starts ringing. I look at the screen and Auston is calling me. "Hello?" I say tired.

"Bro where are you? You left last night and never— Oh wait!" Auston clues in. All I do is laugh in response. "Let me talk to her." He laughs all excited.

Brooks' Pov

"Here Brooks, Auston wants to talk to you." I laugh as Nick hands me the phone.

"Hi Auston!" I sound cheery.

"Hi Brooks!" He mocks me emphasizing my name. "Can Nick hear me?" He asks and I stand up and make my way downstairs to make coffee.

"No."

"So, I bet Nick is hoping we lose more often huh?"

"Auston, no I don't know what you think happened."

"So the second time you guys hung out, wasn't you making him feel better after the loss last night."

"Oh you wish Matthews." I joke. "We watched tv and fell asleep."

"Ah. So Nick will be at practice?" He asks as Nick comes down the stairs.

"Yeah. I gotta go." Nick comes up from behind and hugs me. "Bye Auston." I hang up the phone.

"What did Auston want?" Nick asks as I set his phone on the counter.

"He wanted to make sure that you were still going to practice and if we had sex last night." I get out two mugs. I start making a few shots of espresso for both of us. We both laugh. I hand him coffee and he accepts it.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome." I smile.

"You know Brooks, I really like seeing you."

"Me too." I drink my coffee. "I know you might already have it planned out and Morgan drives a bunch of people, but if you'd like, I can drive you to the airport."

"Yeah I'd like that."
