Oh boy, I'm gonna piss off a lot of people. My theory for the Candy People is that they are homophobic "candy-trash"(You know, like white trash) NeoNazis. NOW BEFORE YOU STOP READING, here me out.
In the show, the candy people are very protective of each other. Like extremely. So much so they hate Lemongrabs and their kin, even though they are technically Candy People! And, they have a respectful, if not an insane-let's-destroy-your-power-source-so-your-people-will-die relationship with every other kingdom. They also are willing to start insane monarchies with corrupt rulers. Like in Pajama War, when they think that they blow up Bubblegum and Finn. Let's look back at the Lemongrabs for a second. Lemon People are an off shoot of Candy People. They are extremely xenophobic, to the point of a dictatorship for the protection of one of their people. That is pretty messed up. If you don't think it's shown in Candy People, then watch Nemesis. In Nemesis, a shadowy figure call the Peace Master comes to take out "the Evil One", which make PB flip out and go crazy with security. That's suspicious by itself, but not the point I'm getting at. Then when that track down, who else but Peppermint Butler, the people Peace Master was working with, a secret society of Candy People called the Veritas Brigade, turn on Peace Master and start to work for Peppermint Butler, despite Peace Master saying he was evil and Peppermint Butler sneak attacking him with a knife! One more peice of evidence for your boggled minds, they turn into zombies through use of a super-serum. Who else turns into zombies through use of a superserum? That's right, Nazis! Also, Princess Bubblegum is dedicated to eradicating all sources of threats to the Candy Kingdom, like is Cooler, and finding was to make it an eternal kingdom, like in Red-Starved and the zombie episodes.
So why does this make them Nazis? Well, the WWII Nazis were a faction of people dedicated to preseve their race and destroy all preseved threats, which was a lot of people because of their xenophobic, homophobic, and racist propaganda. (That is another thing, why do the people not over throw rulers as fast as they did in Pajama Wars. Because PB gives them slumber parties and everything the shoe stories they could want. Propaganda at its finest.)
Well, I hope I didn't tick you off too much. I really hope they talk about some of this stuff soon on the show. That is messed up. (And you people thought the Smurfs were bad.)
