Marceline/Princess Bubblegum

Bubblegum and Marceline have some kind of past. This is showed in every episode with both PB and Marceline as a part of the story shows it. The best example is What Went Missing. In it Marceline and Princess Bubblegum argue and Marceline sarcastically apologizes for not being perfect. PB says, “I never said you had to be perfect.”

 In Sky Witch, Marceline shows up flying past the Gumball Guardian.  Normally she would be thrown out by the Guardian right? Well it just lets her pass by, like she has done it before.

Also in Sky Witch, Marceline says, “I just want to hang out. That’s what friend do, right?” implying that they weren’t friends in the past or weren’t for a long time.

In What Went Missing, it is shown that PB had a rock shirt given to her by Marceline. At first Marceline is confused, saying she never saw her wear it, but Bubblegum explains that she wears it as pajamas and that it means a lot to her. In the beginning of Sky Witch, PB is seen wearing the shirt while she is sleeping, then wakes up and smells it deeply

In the same episode, Bubblegum tells Marceline what she thinks about Raggedy Princess, and then tells her not to tell anyone. This means PB trusts Marceline enough to tell her secrets.

One last thing in Sky Witch, PB sacrifices the rock shirt Marceline gave her to get Hambo back. Who is later sacrificed to bring Betty to the present.

In Time Sandwich, Princess Bubblegum calls Marceline, but types no number in her phone. This means they are close enough to be on speed dial.

Before What Went Missing, there were various pieces of evidence that they were not on the best of terms.  In Party Animal they on complete opposite sides of the party Finn and Jake threw. In Go with Me, Marceline gives Finn bad advice on how to get PB to go with him to the movies.

All this evidence ends with one final conclusion, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum could have possibly had a romantic relation. Think about it. No cartoons ever have a gay couple, so it would be the first of its kind. It would help kids understand that it is okay to be gay and it might hook so people who are gay to it. (Let’s face it, not only kids watch this show. My dad does and he is almost forty.) Plus it would be an interesting couple.

But wait prideme2013, what about all the times Marceline and PB kissed Finn? Simple, Marceline is portrayed as a flirtatious and a princess’s kiss is often a reward for knights.

And what about the Suitor? Well he was enchanted to be a love magnet and PB said that she loves him in the mutual way she loves all her subjects.

In issue 8 of the comic book, Princess Bubblegum kisses Finn. On the lips. Sigh. But she also says she doesn’t want to talk about what happened to Marceline. So this leads me to two conclusions. One, PB is bisexual. Two, Ryan North is a complete idiot. So she probably was looking at second choices.

One last thing, and this is a shout out to any writers of Adventure Time, comic or television show. I think Marceline and PB would be great parents. Think about it.
