"Shit, what do we do?" asked Cherry.

"Fuck, I don't know. Start by getting out of my bed, then we'll go from there,"

"Right."

"Audrey? Are you decent?" asked Two-bit outside my door. "We're coming in!"

I looked at Cherry. She looked at me. We knew there was nothing we could do. She sat back into the chair and waited for everyone to come in. I could tell she was preparing what she was going to say. As was I. I was hoping Dally wouldn't be there. Mainly because I didn't want to spend any more time in the hospital.

The door swung open. In came Two-bit, Steve, and Dally. Of all the people that could've come in, Dally just had to be one of them.

"Hey, nice to see you again!" said Two-bit, talking to me. Then he noticed Cherry. "Damn, who's this?"

"Hey, you guys! Long time no see! At least it feels like a long time, " I said as I shook Two-bits hand. But behind him, I noticed Dally. And Dally noticed Cherry. He gave me a "What the hell?" type of look. I just kept up my act.

"Oh, this is one of my old family friends, Cherry Valence!" I said

The guys all introduced themselves. And to my surprise, Dally pretended that he didn't know her. Cherry did the same.

We didn't do much then, as I was still hospital-bound and couldn't do anything. We just talked for a bit, then the guys said goodbye. That is, Steve, and Two-bit said goodbye. Dally stayed behind.

"Okay you two," started Dally when they left my hospital room, "cut the bullshit. What the fuck?"

Cherry immediately started talking. "Dallas, we just hang out sometimes, it's not that big of a deal."

"Oh yeah? And how long have you two been friends for, hm?" He had this subtly angry tone of voice. I was scared, and I didn't want to spend any more time in the hospital.

"Uh, a couple of months..." said Cherry. I could hear the nervousness in her voice. I was nervous too, my heartbeat was going a mile a minute.

"Hm, that sounds like a bit of a coincidence now, doesn't it?" He was really starting to get angry. I decided to step in.

"Look, Dallas, you left Cherry without a car in a stranger's house. I just talked to her for a bit, then I drove her home. That's all." I tried to explain.

"But why do you continue to hang out with her? She has her own car, she's a big girl! Besides, she's a total bitch. Why the hell would you befriend her?" asked Dally, his face turning red with anger.

"Hey! She's not a bitch! And even if she was, she'd be my bitch, so you can back off. We're friends and there's nothing you can do about it!" I'm going to be completely honest, it pained me to admit that she was just my friend, nothing more. But at that moment I had one goal; Stand up for Cherry.

"Mhm, cool, cool. Cause' she's such a good person. Cheating on her boyfriend, making a deal to be friends with benefits only to get angry with me when I try my best to find a private place for us, yup, she's a great person." He said sarcastically.

"Look, Dal, you don't understand my situation. An' if you did, you'd understand," said Cherry, now standing up. She looked like she was getting really angry. Her face was the same shade it was the first time I had met her. Except this time it was red with anger, not embarrassment.

"Yeah, I don't understand your situation. Hell, I can't imagine any situation where that makes you a decent human being, let alone a good person!" He was yelling at this point.

"Dal, this is your problem. You just jump to conclusions!" Her voice was also loud, almost yelling but not quite.

Just as things were starting to get heated, a nurse barged in. She had heard all the bickering and yelling and decided that enough was enough. She made Dally and Cherry leave (against my wishes, might I remind you,) and told me that I had another visitor. I had absolutely no idea who it was, but I recognized his figure the moment he walked through my doorframe. Johnny.

He walked in quietly and sat down by my bed.

"I- um, I haven't got the chance to thank you," he said, struggling to maintain eye contact.

"Hey, don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're safe. Hey, if you don't mind me asking, why was Darry so angry? What'd you do?" I asked with a chuckle. His face turned bright red.

"Well, uh, you know, me an' Pony were in the living room, an' we were just joking around and crap. But then Pony said somethin' along the lines of "You know, you're cute when you act all shy around me." So, you know, that got me all embarrassed but also flattered at the same time, so I blushed. And whatever way I looked at him made him blush too. But, then Darry walked in on us and he saw the way I was lookin' at Pony and he got all mad. That's when you walked in, and you know the rest." He gave up on eye contact and stared at the ground. I could tell that it pained him to recall the details. I reached over and grabbed his hand, squeezing it.

"Hey man, it's gonna be okay. You'll get yourself a boyfriend eventually," I said with a weak smile. He looked up with watery eyes, giving me a forced smile.

I thought for a bit. I really thought that Pony was gay. Or at the very least bisexual.

"You should go for it." I said after a little while.

He looked up all of a sudden and glanced at me with a confused expression on his face.

"You should ask Pony out," I said, clarifying myself.

"He should ask who out?" came a voice from the door. Johnny nearly jumped out of his skin and the colour had drained from his face. I looked behind him and saw none other than Ponyboy Micheal Curts. I wanted to punch myself in the jaw for not being careful .

Johnny slowly turned around. I could tell that he already knew who it was from the sound of his voice alone.

"P-Ponyboy! W-what are you d-doing here?" he stuttered. I was silently cursing at myself under my breath.

"Why did Audrey just suggest that you ask me out?" He said it in an almost hopeful tone. Like he was hoping he'd say that he wanted to ask him out.

"I- uh, I- well, y-you see," Johnny babbled. I thought that shit was about to hit the fan.

But it didn't.

In fact, Ponyboy walked inside (shutting the door behind him), speed walked right up to Johnny, grabbed him by the collar and planted his lips on his. My mouth dropped as that was not what I thought was going to happen. I'm not sure what I expected, but that certainly wasn't it. When they pulled apart, Pony realized that I had witnessed the entire situation unfold before my eyes. He turned red and stepped away from Johnny.

"I- uh, there was something on his face-" he started. I cut him off.

"Stop it. He likes you, I assume you like him, all I care is that you two are happy together. I don't care if you're gay, straight or bi. It makes zero difference to me. Now, go be happy together for me, alright?"

Pony's panicked expression grew into a little smile. Johnny was speechless, he was still surprised at everything that had gone down in those short thirty seconds. Ponyboy held Johnny's hand and smiled. They walked out and shouted "Thanks for everything!" before leaving.

I couldn't help but smile. At least I wasn't the worst wingman one could ask for.

I called one of the nurses over and asked when I could leave. To my surprise, she said whenever I was ready, just as long as I took things easy. I called Soda and asked him to pick me up. Five minutes later, he was outside the hospital, waiting for me. I hoped in, and without saying another word, Soda drove me home. I thanked him and walked inside.
