A Maximoff Secret

The hospital

Steve's POV

"We need to get to a hospital now!" I say as I lift Y/n back up in my arms. We all board the Quinn jet and head for the closest hospital. While we're on the jet I ring Nick and tell him what's happened.

"So you managed to save your friend Bucky but not Y/n?! WHAT WAS THE ONE THING I TOLD YOU TO DO" he shouted down the phone at me.

"Nick I know you're mad but please Y/n is seriously hurt, you need to meet us at the hospital" I say back to him, trying to keep myself together.

"Well Rogers I'm currently in the middle of something that I can't leave from, I'll send Agent Hill to meet you at the hospital" he says and hangs up on me before I get to say anything. I kneel down beside Y/n and take her hand and start drawing circles with my fingers. "It's going to be okay Y/n I promise"

Eventually the jet lands outside the hospital and we all get up to leave. I gather Y/n in my arms and run through the doors of the hospital. A team of doctors are waiting inside the door and usher me to place Y/n on a trolley. They start to push her away and I follow. "Sir you have to stay out here I'm sorry" one of the doctors says as they bring Y/n away through another set of double doors.

"She's going to be okay Steve" Nat says coming up behind me and holding my arm.

I sit down in the closest chair to me and hold my head in my hands. "She has to be... I need her, I can't loose her"

A doctor comes back out through the doors and I immediately stand up. "We have to bring her to surgery and you might not want too, but we have a window that looks into the surgery room if you'd like to wait there" he says.

"Show us where it is" I say and we follow the doctor through the doors into this room. I immediately see Y/n lying on the cold table through the window in the surgery room, surrounded by doctors and nurses.

After three hours the doctors and nurses are still working on her. I haven't left the window in fear I'll miss something. "Come on Y/n please" I say to myself wiping a tear away from my cheek.

Nat comes and stands beside me. "She's a fighter she'll make it through..." I don't say anything I just keep looking at Y/n. "You love her don't you?" Nat asks me and I look down at her.

"I-I think I do, which is why I can't loose her" I say in nearly a whisper. I do love her of course I do how could I not love Y/n. From the minute I met her, I felt a connection to her.

At the moment, Maria Hill comes running into the room. "Is she going to be okay?" She asks us worryingly.

"We don't know we're still waiting" Nat replies as we watch the doctors work on her.

After what feels like another five hours, the doctors move away. "Stabilise her oxygen and get her to a recovery room" he says to one of the nurses. He looks up at us and holds his thumbs up. "She's going to be okay"

A wave of relief comes over me and I let myself smile. "She's okay thank god" Maria says and hugs Nat.

Y/n's POV

I hear the sound of a machine beeping beside me and people rushing around. I slowly open my eyes and see the ceiling of a hospital room. I look to my left and there's so many wires and tubes strapped up to me and my leg is in a cast. Ow my head!

"And this is what happens when I leave you alone for minute" someone says beside me. Oh my god it's Steve!

"Steve? What-what happened?" I try to turn my body over to face him but that sends a pain through my whole body.

"Hey don't try do that" Steve says and gets up to fix my pillow for me. "Well, in short, you nearly got you and I killed Agent Maximoff" he says and laughs.

Why is he laughing this is far from funny!
"Steve I'm so sorry" I say and I can hear the crack in my voice as I speak.

Steve takes my hand and looks me straight in the eyes. "Hey stop Y/n don't do that, this is not your fault at all"

His hand is so soft I never want to let it go. I can feel the tears filling my eyes. "This is completely my fault! You could have died because of me"

"Look at me Y/n" I lift my eyes up to meet his. "I'm not going anywhere" Steve leans into me so our foreheads are nearly touching.

I put my hand onto his face and whisper "Promise?"

Steve smiles at me and runs his hand around the back of my head. "I promise"

Steve pulls my face in to meet his and kisses me. He kisses so softly, but so passionate at the same time. I can feel myself smiling and pull him in closer to me.
