Not everything is Planned

Chapter 13

A few months past, and Spence is still in a coma, Hotch sent an order to me to stay home for a while. Today was the day I finally went back to work.

"Mom, I'm leaving. Bye Henry I love you!" I say heading out the door.

"JJ, wait." My mom yelled. "Are you sure you're ready to go back to work? I mean after everything that has happened on your last case.."

"Mom, stop! I'm fine." I say walking out of the door.

But the truth was I wasn't sure if I was okay. I kept on thinking about Spence and the last case. My ex husband put him in a coma. I couldnt think straight. Tears started running down my face as I was driving.

When I got the the bau I wiped all my tears and went inside. As soon as I walked in I felt eyes on me. Emily walked up to me.

"Hey JJ, you ok?" She asked.

"Ugh," I sighed. "I wish people would stop asking me that."

"We just wanna make sure you're ok after everything with Reid." Morgan chimed in.

"Yes, guys. I'm fine." I say.

Hotch walks in saying we have a case.

"Hey JJ. How are you feeling?" He asks.

"I'm fine."

We all went into the briefing room so that Garcia could present the case.

"JJ!" She yelled. "You're hear! How are you!?"

"Garcia, I'm fine." I say hoping she just continues presenting the case.

"Ok, anyways there have been 3 women dead with brown hair over two weeks." Garcia says flipping through the pictures.

"Ok, wheels up 30." Hotch tells everyone.

"I think I'm going to visit Spence when we get off." I say breaking the silence.

"How many time do you go visit him?" Morgab asked.

"I go everday.. just to talk to him I guess." I say looking at the floor.

"Well I go with you JJ." Emily says happily.

I was actually happy that Emily was coming, usually it's just me, sometimes Henry, but mostly just me. I also haven't talked to anyone a lot since that case..

A few hours past and we landed. Emily and I headed to the hospital. Once we got there mostly everyone already knew where I was going.

"Spencer Reid hasn't changed much.." the doctor said.

Emily and I walked into his room and sat next to his bed.

I started talking to Spence about the case we just did and about Henry.

"Hey Spence, it's been 3 months and I finally went back to work." I teared up. Emily put a hand on my knee. "Henry's been asking about you. And it's been hard to tell him the truth.." I was about to say something else, but his monitor started beeping really loud.

"What the hell?" Emily said confused.

A lot of nurses walked in a they told us to leave right away. I started crying right away.

"Em.. what's going on!?" I asked scared.

"Jen, I'm not actually sure.." she replied.

All the nurses were talking and hooking Spence up to stuff. His monitor kept on beeping and then...
