Prologue
(Corey's POV)
It had just been another normal night for me. I was just getting ready for bed when I heard footsteps in the house. I knew that my parents were out celebrating their wedding anniversary so they would be back later in the night, so who would be in my house?
No one else but my parents had the keys.
Instead of panicking, I remained calm and shut off my bathroom and bedroom lights. My bedroom door was already locked and only I could open it. Because I was so small, I managed to fit into the small cupboard underneath my sink. Controlling my breathing, I managed to stay quiet.
But despite my efforts, he still found me.
Then attacked me.
To this day, nobody knows about what happened that night, except for my best friend. I refused to talk to my parents and the police about what happened, but the doctor who treated my injuries found out about the rape and told the police and my parents.
I didn't want their pity, which is why I am now the mute and silent kid who only talks to his best friend.
I thought I would be like this for the rest of my life.
