"There you are" the mist had cleared as Endeavor rose over them.  Naturally, Midoriya healed Shoto tighter in defense, glowering up at the tall Pro Hero.

"Back off"  he grit.

"Izu..." Shoto tried to protest but made no effort to move.

"You can't do this!"  Izuku growled.

"I'm going to do nothing," Endeavor said, and to Izuku's surprise, the man took a step back.

"What"  Izuku felt stunned.

"Shoto," the man addressed.  Shoto slowly pulled away from Midoriya's chest, "you're right."

"P-pardon?"  apparently Shoto was surprised too.

"I was wrong."  Endeavor sighed, "And I'm right.  Just not in the way I expected.  You have changed.  But... you changed for the better.  You managed to have gotten stronger without my notice.  And this... boy... has done nothing to change that,"

"Are you being serious?" Shoto's eyes were wide.

"Do I look like I'm trying to be funny?"  Endeavor rose a brow.

"No father"

"Then listen,"  he said with the slightest gruffness, "I am not very fond of this... relationship you have with this boy... but I have no reason to have that opinion anymore.  I was worried he was the one that-" he didn't finish what he was saying,  "but that doesn't mean you're off the hook.  We're still going to do extra training together.  Now, get cleaned up."  And with that, Endeavor had turned and left.

"What... just happened?"  Izuku loosened his grip on Shoto.

"I fought for you... and he... I made him proud?"  Shoto looked stunned.

"Just like that?"  Izuku looked at Shoto with bewilderment.

"J-just like that."

Shoto and Izuku went back to Izuku's apartment where Inko started crying over Midoriya as if he had died. They then tended to Shoto's wounds and got him doctored up to make sure he wouldn't get an infection from all the little open wounds. After that, they faced the decision of letting Shoto go home to face his dad again or letting him stay the night there.

Shoto chose to go home, not for his father but for his sister.  For her sake not his own.

"Just... don't get in any more trouble for me ok?"  Izuku said sheepishly.  They stood directly outside the door to Midoriya's apartment.

"I'll try not to," Shoto said, caressing Midoriya's cheek softly. Izuku stood on his tippy toes so he could be level with Shoto.

"Seriously Sho,"

"I know.  I'll talk to him."  Shoto sighed, "Don't worry about me," he said as he kissed his cheek gently.  Izuku's cheeks heated up a bit. "I love you,"

"I love you too,"  Izuku giggled as he lowered himself onto his heels once more. Shoto began to walk away awkwardly.  How does one just leave after what had happened?  Shoto neared the end of the hallway where he hesitated, feeling Midoriya's eyes on him.  He looked over his shoulder to see Izuku smiling back at him all the way from the door.

There was a moment between the boys where the air seemed to run short, and the world would run still.  But it was brief, and enough to make Shoto turn around just as Izuku looked away to open the door to his apartment.
