Izuku woke up the next morning and admittedly was startled to see Todoroki on the futon fast asleep. Izuku had been sleeping while sitting up, which gave him a horrible neck cramp that morning. He looked over Todoroki, still peacefully asleep. He thought for a moment last night had just been an absurd dream. Just something his brain had conjured to scare him yet make his heart swoon at the same time.
Izuku couldn't help but smile at Todoroki, who lay on his side as he slept like a kitten. He looked so calm and peaceful. How could that face belong to someone who'd try to put an end to their life? He didn't want to think about it nor believe it. It wasn't real, at least anymore it wasn't. Todoroki would never do that again, right?
But still, Izuku could help but fret. What if he overdosed behind his back? Drank drain cleaner? Anything that would slip him into endless slumber without Izuku's momentary notice. Izuku was terrified.
He'll be fine, Todoroki was fine. He had to remind himself of that. He'd have to trust Shoto. He'd have to have faith that Shoto would heal, even if it would take some time. Izuku let out a sigh, a breath he didn't realize he's been holding in. He didn't want to leave the warm futon, besides, he wanted to cherish this moment.
"Izuku?" Shoto grumbled, his eyes barely opening. He looked so precious when he was tired.
"Morning Shoto," Izuku smiled brightly.
"Wait what time is it?!" Shoto was suddenly sitting straight up, rubbing his face to wake himself.
"Hmm," Izuku at the clock on the wall, "about 9:30?"
"Seriously?!" Shoto desperately threw the blankets Izuku had given him off as he jumped to his feet. Izuku just looked up at him groggily, "my dad is gonna kill me!"
"Sho relax!" Izuku lifted his hands up as he clambered off the couch. He looked longingly at Shoto who was looking around for something, "it'll be ok, we'll take you home right now,"
"Yes but my dad's probably furious with me already. Think about it, what happened last night and now I'm missing?!" Shoto began to pace, "I'm basically dead,"
"Sho it'll be fine," Izuku assured, placing his hands carefully on Shoto's shoulders. He looked up at him with sweet sparkling green eyes. Shoto managed a soft smile, "I'll go with you if you want? maybe it'll help-"
"NO!" Shoto blurted, "I-I mean, please don't... I don't want you to get hurt too,"
"Why would I get hurt?" Izuku stepped a little closer.
"He's just... that way... it's fine. I'll just say I got stuck somewhere or whatever," Shoto bit his lip, "don't worry about me,"
"Sho..." Izuku pouted.
"I'll be fine,"
"Fine then," Izuku let go of his shoulders, "just promise you'll be ok...? And... can we meet up tonight?"
"Like sneaking out?" Shoto rose a brow. Izuku nodded excitedly.
"Sure," Shoto smiled, picking up Izuku's hand and gently kissing the top of it.
"It's a date then," Izuku giggled, his face heating up like a hot rod.
"Of course," Shoto said, picking up his phone from the coffee table. There were several texts and missed calls from his dad, "alright I have to leave now," he said, stiffening his shoulders.
"Wait Sho," Izuku grabbed his hand as he started to head for the door. Shoto hummed in response, "I... I-I love you, ok?"
"I love you too," Shoto said and kissed him on the cheek delicately. He lingered near Izuku's head, and for a moment all they could hear was the soft pitter-patter of their hearts drumming to a beat and their rise and fall of their breaths. Izuku felt like someone had just lit his chest on fire, he was getting so flushed and swooned, "see you tonight,"
