Connor was turning nine, Kat could feel it in her bones. Maybe it was a mom thing; her brain was secretly counting the day.

Daryl was gone. He didn't get to celebrate with her and Carol. He was finding new people, going to help grow this place.

Kat still hasn't taken up her chance at being a teacher, but she wanted to. She had to try. Daryl was.

"What day is it?" Kat asked Connor. The boy shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't know?"

"It's your birthday!" She cheered happily, pumping the air with her fists.

Carl smiled at them as he held Judith by the door. Connor smiled widely, excited as his mother was.

"Really? How do you know?" He asked. Kat smiled, bending t his height and ruffling his long hair. It reached his shoulders now, the blond strands getting wavy.

"Moms know everything." She chuckled, guiding her son to the living room. Carol baked a small cake, candles decorating it.

"Happy birthday Connor!" Everyone cheered as they entered the living from. Maggie, Glenn, Carl, Judith, and Michonne were all in the living room while Carol brought the cake to the table.

"You did this all for me?" The boy asked. Kat nodded excitedly, rubbing her son's shoulders. The day went by fast; the three kids decided to hang upstairs in Connor's room while the adults stayed in the living room. Rick was still in prison, Michonne leaving to check on him every so often.

"This was nice. Maybe next time we can introduce him to Ron and his brother?" Carol suggested.

"I think he's ready. These people... Rick is right. But that doesn't mean he's wrong in some ways as well. These are good people, they just don't know anything." Carol gave a nod and rubbed the mother's shoulders in understanding.

"Let's get back to the party."

Rick finally woke up. Michonne was with him all night after the party. Glenn, Carol, Abraham, and I walked into the room slowly with a sigh.

"Where'd you get the gun?" Michonne asked and placed her hands on her hips.

"You took it right. From the armory? That was stupid. Why did you do it?" Carol asked. I shared a look with her. My own confusion etched on my face. Rick gave her an incredulous look before giving up whatever he was going to say.

"Just in case." He said simply. I bit my lip and crossed my arms, a small frown on my face. I agreed with him, just in case, but I wasn't going to voice my thoughts.

"Deanna's planning to have a meeting tonight. For anyone who wants to." Glenn spoke up.

"To kick Rick out?" Abraham asked.
