Limping through the halls of the prison, I thought about the road up to this. What landed Connor and me in such a wonderful position. A place to stay, food, safety, company.

"You doin alright?" I heard behind me. I jumped and abruptly turned around, finding the archer behind me.

"Hello, Daryl. I'm doing just fine, like always. Just feeling... weird." I started. He gave me a questioning look, urging me to continue.

"My whole life, things have never felt this safe. Ever felt so... natural except being with Connor, of course. This place is... I don't even know how to describe it." I rambled. I saw a ghost of a smile appear on his lips, going away as quickly as it came.

"This place is good. Plus, we could use more badasses around here." He joked. I blushed softly and chuckled.

"I wouldn't say that," I said softly, beginning to walk. I glanced at him to see if he was following. Daryl fell into step with me as we walked.

"Nah, you came into that room like an assassin." He laughed. I chuckled with him and rolled my eyes.

"A mother would do anything for her child," I told him with a smile. He nodded as we reached the common room, his feet planted next to mine as a rubbed my arms nervously. Everyone in the room was staring at the 𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑔𝑖𝑟𝑙.

"Mama! Guess what?" Connor said, running up to me. It seemed as though his voice broke the tension through the air, making them turn back to what they were doing.

"What is it, Bubs?" I asked, kneeling to his height.

"We were reading a story like you used to!"

"What story?"

"The one with the little girl and the wolf! But the long version!"

"That's awesome, Conman!" I told him with a smile, picking him up and placing him on my hip to tickle him softly.

"Hi, mister Daryl." He said softly before hiding into my neck.

"Hey, kid," Daryl replied. Connor giggled and dug his head further into my neck. I furrowed my brows with a laugh at his antics.

"So, what's the plan today?" I asked, repositioning Connor into my back.

"We're heading to the BigSpot. Why you wanna come?"

"I would. I've been here a while now and would like to get something done other than just cook." I told him. He nodded and ruffled Connor's hair before stalking off.

"I'll come to get you when we're about to leave." He called out. I nodded and walked with Connor back to our cell.

"So, you're leaving?" Connor asked.

"Only for a few hours. It won't take long, okay?" He nodded sadly as I got ready. I pulled my hair into a ponytail, clipped my guns, knives, and mask to their respective places, and began to lace up my boots.
