02. In Satan We Trust
Lawson
BOTH REESE AND EMERSON WERE QUIET ON THE CAR RIDE back. Emerson had put his headphones in and was listening to music while Reese remained on his phone. I kept my hand on the steering wheel driving back to Reese's place first.
He would be the first one dropped off. Emerson's house was just a block away from mine, so I'd drop him off last before going home.
The party had been fun, it was a typical one with less people. I tapped my fingers on the wheel as I sped the car up a little. Suddenly there was a pop and my car slowed down and Reese looked up. Emerson took his headphones off.
"Everything okay?" Emerson asked.
"I think I hit something small, I'm going to go check the tires." I told the two as I shut the car off and got out. I walked over to the back tire and began checking them before I found a hole in one of them.
"Fuck." I murmured before shaking my head. I went to my drunk and popped it open before taking out the spare tire. I bent down and began changing the tire before looking over. My eyes caught sight of something shiny. I went over and paused upon seeing numerous nails set up in the road.
I took a look around before hurrying back to the car.
"What was it?" Reese asked rolling down the window.
"There are nails in the road." I responded and he looked over.
"Can we help you?" Reese asked and I turned around to see a man in a black coat coming up.
"Start the car." I whispered and he looked over at me confused. Emerson looked at him as he came over.
"Lawson, he has a weapon!" Emerson yelled just as he swung the wrench at me, and I fell to the ground. Then he kicked me as everything went black.

The first thing I noticed when I started coming to it was an ache in my head. Something warm trickled down my head as I slowly came to it before opening my eyes. The first thing I noticed was the rope around my wrists and my ankles.
When I looked over, I saw Emerson and Reese in similar positions. They both had rope securing their wrists and ankles.
I looked around trying to identify the surroundings. All I could make out were trees. We were in some sort of forest. I pulled on the ropes attempting to test their strength.
"I wouldn't try that if I were you. I have them tight enough for you can't break out of them." I looked up as a man pulled into view. He had salt and pepper hair and wore a black coat with a goat-man sewed on the front of it. His eyes were black with a small ring of brown around the pupil.
I shifted away from him. He watched me as he looked over at Emerson and Reese.
"Do you want money or something?" I asked doing the best to hide the fear in my voice. He let out a laugh.
"I don't want your money; I want something else." He smiled as he revealed a knife as my heart dropped. I began to pull on the rope more as I saw Emerson beginning to stir. He had a cut on the top of his head from being hit with an object to knock him out.
The guy in front of me stood up. "Percy, get the ceremonial knives ready." I laid back shaking my head.
"Lawson?" Emerson asked.
I looked over at him. "Are you okay?" I asked.
"Where are we?" Emerson asked pushing himself up as he blinked and rubbed his head where blood dripped down from.
