11. Dangerous Parties and Graduations

Lawson

RIGHT AFTER DROPPING EMERSON AND REESE OFF I HEADED back to my house. Emerson explained to me what happened. It wasn't surprising to hear that Reese's mom tried to get him to stay.

That woman is completely off her rocker. Has been for a while. At least Reese is out of there now. We didn't have to worry about him.

Soon I arrived at home where dad was already home. Mom was sitting next to him eating dinner. I had texted her that I was getting dinner with Emerson and Reese. She looked up and smiled at me as I came in.

I set my bag down and came in and gave my mom a hug. "How does it feel to have graduated?" Dad asked and I smiled.

"It's nice. When do you want to go look at the RV's for the road trip?" I asked.

"We'll do it two days before graduation since you plan to leave the day after graduation." Dad told me and I nodded with a smile. With that I went up to my room and smiled as I laid down in bed.

"You did it Lawson, you graduated and now you're heading off, no matter how complicated the road might've been." I told myself with a grin.

The only complication had been the cult sacrificing us.

I moved my shirt down a little looking at the faint pink trace of where one of the knives had been stabbed into me. The cult had been a big complication. We should've died that night, but we didn't. I took a deep breath.

"Your alive Lawson, appreciate it." I murmured before settling in for the night.

The next two days were spent getting the place ready for our graduation party. On the day of the graduation party Emerson, Reese, and Emerson's mom had come over. Dad was currently out at the store doing last minute shopping as mom went to work in the kitchen.

She was currently making some potato salad and had finished the noodles for the mac and cheese which she'd make about fifty minutes before dad started grilling everything.

Emerson, Reese, and I were currently near the dessert's mom had bought.

One of the things my mom loved doing is baking. She tended to go overboard when allowed to make a lot. But we had a nice amount of people coming. My grandparents were coming down, my aunts were, as well as Emerson's grandmother. A few cousins might be here as well. And we had invited a few people from school.

"This is so disgusting." Reese commented as he dumped some frosting in the cake mix.

"It feels terrible but is delicious." Mom piped in with a smile.

Reese looked down at the black gloves he wore which were covered in frosting and some of the cake. He shook his head before continuing on mushing them into a lump.

"Don't put too much frosting in either Reese or else the cake pops will be greasy." Mom called out and Reese nodded.

Soon he had that done and began rolling out the cake batter into balls with Emerson's help. I on the other hand was frosting the cupcakes. Mom had made homemade cake as well as cupcakes. There wasn't any actual cake though. Although there is a sampler ice cream cake in the freezer.

Mom made red velvet cupcakes and had gold frosting to match the colors of the school. She bought some special tips for her piping bags to make the frosting have designs on them.

"What do we do once the cake balls are made?" Emerson asked.

"Put them in the freezer for about fifteen to thirty minutes. Once they're done, you'll melt some chocolate and dip them before putting them in the fridge. Be sure to space them out or they'll stick to each other." Mom told him.
