The first day for students was always an exciting one. New students were being introduced to their teachers and classes, and returning students were learning about their new classes.
Lana had gotten back to school right before classes started, so she missed breakfast. But she was just in time for her class. Lanas first class of the day only had six students in it.
In the front sat two eager looking girls, both Gryffindors. Miss Patil, and Miss Brown. Lana knew they would probably be her best students. The other four were obviously only there for extra help in divination, Trewlaney had warned her that they had been failing her class. Lana didn't mind being a glorified tutor.
Class went well, Miss Patil and Brown answered pretty much every question Lana asked, and even handed in their homework for the week before leaving. Lana was certainly impressed.
Lana didn't have any other classes scheduled for the day, so she had to assist with divination class.
As Lana started towards Professor Trelawney's class, she saw a small boy who looked frightened, like he had just seen a mountain troll. He was obviously lost, so Lana headed straight for the young boy.
"Where are you headed?" She asked, making her voice sound as light and sweet as possible.
The boy fumbled with his schedule before saying "Potions.." in such a quiet, mousy voice. Lana offered her hand to the boy, which he took gladly. She then escorted him to the dungeons.
She could tell he was thankful that someone was there to help him. She remembered what it was like, being only eleven with all of the responsibility of school on your shoulders.
Lana led the young Gryffindor down to the dungeons, then stood a ways back, still not quite ready to see Severus, and motioned toward the classroom door.
"There you are dear. Now, I don't recommend being late to his class ever again." She smiled then pointed at the potions room door.
"Thank you." The boy said sincerely, then turned to the door and went into class.
Lana began to leave the dungeons, until, she heard him.
"And who might you be?" Lana heard his booming voice from the hall. It made her jump a bit, she had never felt afraid of Severus before. She remembered a time that his voice caused her to melt like putty.
The boy stood in the door way, afraid to speak. He saw that the longer he stayed quiet, the angrier his professor got.
"I- I'm-"
"Ah, ah? Out with it!" Severus' voice echoed through the dungeons, his tone was nasty, his attitude rivaled that of a centaurs.
Lana couldn't stay out of it, she never could.
"Don't you yell at him Severus." Lana said in a stern voice, now standing in front of the young boy. She had one leg in front of the other, as if she were ready to pounce.
The class gasped in unison.
Severus, instantly filled with rage. Who was this woman? Why was she in his class? What in merlins name did she think she was doing?
