It didn't take Lana long at all to get her affairs in order in France. It was never truly home to her, although it was safe and she lived a decent life there, it was no match to Hogwarts. It truly paled in comparison. Lana longed for that sense of adventure one would get from simply being at Hogwarts.
Lana looked at the few bags she had packed and tried to remember the good times she had in the past two years. Although it took a while to remember something good she eventually did, after moving to France she did make up with her mother. They both apologized for the past and were able to get over themselves. Her reminiscing was interrupted by her watch. She had set an alarm for when she needed to leave for the station.
She chuckled to herself, all of the witches and wizards she had known had some sort of internal clock, they always knew when it was time to go. She wondered what was wrong with hers and thanked Merlin for muggles and their tendencies to run late. Lana took one last look at her flat before disapparating. Muggles were so worried about getting to places on time they didn't notice someone appearing out of thin air.
Lana bid France Au revoir as she boarded a train to London. She brought with her only the essentials. Albus told her in the letter he left with her that she could stay at the school, so she wouldn't have to go through the hassle of finding a place until school began.
In Dumbledores letter he also suggested Lana get some of her class supplies in Diagon alley, since an astrology course was new to the school and their books were quite outdated. Plus, he knew Lana would want to have her own set of materials rather than borrowing from Trelawney all of the time. Lana proved to be rather independent, and stubborn.
Back to the Leaky Cauldron. Lana stopped for some tea, with milk and honey in it. In the past Lana had only been able to drink the stuff with loads of cane sugar in it, but someone had taught her to appreciate the taste of the tea itself, with only the most natural sweeteners to add to the flavor. Before the past could creep in any further she decided to get a move on to Diagon Alley. She had to meet with Dumbledore later in the day and she wanted to get her shopping out of the way. So for the first time in years Lana entered the secret entrance in the back of the pub.
After Lana made it through the scents and scenery knocked her back a bit. The multitude of cramped shops along the cobble stone road brought back such a pleasant sense of nostalgia to Lana, it was the first time she felt truly happy in a long while. Memories came rushing back as soon as she stepped onto the street.
Her first stop was Flourish and Blotts to search for some sort of textbooks to assist in her teaching. Lana was honored to be brought in as a professor, but why Astrology? Of course, she understood why she wasn't offered the role of the Potions assistant, a conflict of interests to say the least. But, Astrology? Divination? Yes, Lana excelled in these subjects but she would never in a million years want to teach them.
Next stop was the Healer shop, for some crystals. If Lana was going to be another Sybil Trelawney she was going to look the part. Besides, Lana liked crystals. There were selenite towers, amethyst geodes, quartz clusters and so many other shapes and sizes of rocks. Lana decided on some simple selenite and quartz, for cleansing and protection purposes. She also looked into some tarot cards, she was never the best at reading them but she enjoyed them nonetheless, she decided against them though, and left with her rocks.
Lana walked out of the shop, her ears were instantly bombarded by some shrill panicked noise. She looked around frantically, searching for the owner of that shrill voice.
Lana recognized the plump ginger woman struggling to juggle several school books and other supplies, but she couldn't quite remember where she knew her from. She stood staring at her for a few moments. Lana instinctively rushed over to help the obviously stressed woman.
