This one's kinda long, sorry loves <3

The anticipation leading up to the Yule ball was felt by all of Hogwarts' inhabitants. Even the staff. Since Lana never had any dances during her time as a student, she was remarkably excited. Lana enjoyed watching as students mustered up the courage to ask each other to the dance. She thought Severus to be to sophisticated to appreciate that sort of gesture. Although, she did think about asking him a multitude of times in the days leading to the ball.

The festivities which would take place later that day, made Christmas morning seem obsolete. Lana woke like it was any other morning, which was pretty much true to her. Her mothers husband didn't like them to celebrate Christmas, and so they didn't. Although, Lana and her sisters would usually exchange small gifts which they made themselves, or stole.

Lana had to talk herself out of buying Severus a present. He mentioned his dislike for the Holiday during one of the many nights he lied awake with Lana when she was plagued by those horrible nightmares a couple of summers ago. She caught herself replaying those nights more and more recently. Although their "romance" was short, they got to know each other on a rather deep level those few months she lived in Spinners end with him.

Lana sighed and she tried to bury those thoughts. They'd only ruin her night, and she was determined to not let anything get her down. She rolled out of bed, onto the floor. Using the edge of her bed, she hoisted herself up to begin getting dressed. Severus had requested her help grading papers before the ball, which he added he would not be attending if it weren't mandatory. Lana ran her fingers through her hair, combing out what little knots she had before tearing her wardrobe and dressers a part, searching for her warmest sweater. Eventually she found a huge yellow knitted sweater with a huge "L" on the front, which had been gifted to her by the gracious Mrs. Weasley. She slid it over her head, and paired it with a pair of her thickest trousers.

Dressed and ready, she started on her way to the dungeons.

Lana knocked lightly before opening the classroom door. There say Severus at his desk, brooding over some bit of parchment. He was always sexiest when he was focused...

Lana shook her head, trying to loosen the grip those sort of thoughts had on her mind, then continued toward him, pushing aside her insatiable concentration kink.

The moment she reached his desk, his eyes darted up at her.

"That thing is god awful." Severus said, disgusted by Lana's sweater.

"Mmm, but so warm." Lana groaned back before plopping down in the seat he had set out for her. So they could share his desk.

He rolled his eyes before tossing a stack of papers in front of Lana, which she bargain to grade begrudgingly.

"The last few weeks have been amusing, haven't they? I find joy in watching the students attempt to ask each other to the ball." Lana snickered. "They're so...awkward.".

"...and, did anyone ask you, Miss Darcy?" Severus said in a boyish way. He sounded almost, jealous.

Lana scoffed. "Severus I'm a teacher now. But funny enough, yes I have." Lana began to laugh, but managed to continue "One of those Durmstrang boys trapped me in the halls." Lana said coyly.

Severus set his quill down, and gave the conversation his full attention. "What did you say?".

Lana exhaled sharply at his question. Why on earth would he want to know? "What? Why would you care? Ah, were you going to ask me yourself?" Lana teased.
