Austin

When we got to Blood Moon, it was dark, so we were immediately shown a guest room where we could sleep, which I couldn't seem to do. Max crashed as soon as he hit his bed (they'd provided us three beds). Silas called Tessa, which he'd been instructed to do as soon as he got here. Mates. I hope my mate isn't like that. We need some freedom, need to have some fun! We can't have fun if our mates are calling to check on us every five minutes. I'll have to tell her that if I find her.

I stayed awake well into the early hours of morning, doing random things. The other two were asleep, and I was playing Among Us on my phone. It was quite an entertaining game. I was the imposter, so naturally I was killing everyone and acting innocent. I won. When I put the phone down, it was about 3:25, and sleep overtook me so fast it left me shocked.

I was in the middle of the forest bordering Silver Claws. There was nothing there, just trees as far as the eye could see. So I began to wander aimlessly, just taking in the scenery. That is, until I felt a tap on my shoulder. I whirled around, ready to attack, as I'd been taught. Instead, I stopped short, gazing at a boy with black hair and blue eyes hanging upside down from the tree branches. "Will," I breathed, relaxing.

"You gonna attack your own brother?" Will asked, flipping off of the trees and landing in a perfect crouch in front of me.

I answered immediately, "Of course not. I was just prepared."

"Austin," He started. "I didn't call you here for no reason. I was planning on explaining it a little bit, but SOMEONE stayed till 3AM! Anyway, some big things are coming. I can't tell you exactly what it is, or it won't happen, but just keep one thing in mind: don't screw it up. What's about to happen is important, and if it doesn't happen, werewolves will die." Will ran a hand through his dark hair.

"Will, what are you talking about? Who's going to die?"

"I've already said too much, Austin. Just, please, for the sake of us all, don't screw it up."

"I don't even know what 'it' is!" I exclaimed. Will's already dark blue eyes darkened even more.

"What part of 'I can't tell you' do you not understand? You'll know what I'm talking about when it happens. Just keep me in mind, okay? Now, it's nearly time for you to wake up. Until next time, brother." Will waved, and the forest began to dissolve into blackness.

I woke in a cold sweat, Will's words ringing in my ears. I couldn't help but wonder what was coming, and whether I could prevent it or not. He said I would know when it happens, but what if I don't? What if I mess it up accidentally? All those deaths, they'd be on me. And it's not like he said who would die. It could be Ashlyn, or my mama, or any one of my friends, or pack members. All innocent people. I made a vow to watch out for the 'signal'.

Surprisingly, I was the first one up. So I did what any good friend would do: I pushed the other two off the bed. Silas punched me, and Max just grumbled and went back to sleep on the floor, clutching the blankets like a lifeline. After many creative attempts at waking him (pulling the blankets off, shaking him, yelling at him, calling Leah, etc.) we were still unsuccessful. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

"You sure this is a good idea?" Silas asked, carrying the bucket we'd asked for.

"He won't wake up, and we have twenty minutes to eat and get back here to meet Beta Kayla. Yes, it's a good idea."

We both put our hands on the bucket. "3, 2, 1!" We tipped the bucket, the ice water spilling out and onto Max's sleeping face. He was soaked in seconds. Fortunately, he actually woke up, though he wasn't too happy about what we'd done.
