We all make our way to the Institute to get the faerie rings.
"Guys, wait out here," I say once we reach the Institute, "I think I can handle this myself."
I start to hear a protest but I choose to ignore their voices. As I walk into the Institute, heading towards the library, I hear a murmur of voices. Very familiar voices.
"Wow, you guys got a whole lot of books here. Do you ever use them all?"
"No, most of them are just useless. Although, we have some pretty good novels."
"Do u have anything we can use?"
"Like what?"
"You know what to get. Get the book."
Sebastian, I saw, was sitting in one of the library's armchairs, his white-blond hair shining against the sun. Beside him was another boy, blond hair as well, but not quite as blond. His golden curly locks complimented his shimmery golden eyes. His very familiar golden eyes. Jace.
Jace walks over to another bookshelf where he takes out a book. "Here you go, Sebby." Jace said.
"Don't call me that. Sebastian will do." He responded with an irritated tone.
"Alright, Sebby." Jace said with a smirk.
"Ugh, Herondales. So full of yourselves."
"So why do you need The Gray Book anyway?" Jace asked.
The Gray Book? He took The Gray Book? Why would he take The Gray Book?
"I need to know some runes and I want to make sure that you Shadowhunters have no access to it."
"Oh, okay that makes sense."
WHAT? What has gotten into Jace?
"Come on, let's get out of this disgusting place." Sebastian said. He twisted a ring on his finger. Both Jace and Sebastian vanished into thin air.
I run over to the case where the rings are and grab them. I place them inside the velvet bag I brought and ran out of the Institute.
"Guys, Sebastian was in the Institute. And guess who was with him." I say as soon as I got outside.
"Let me guess, one of his minions." Simon responded while a sip of his water.
"Well sort of. It was Jace!"
Simon spit out his water. "WHAT?"
"Yeah, I saw them there together and they stole The Gray Book! Jace seemed to be totally okay with hanging out with Sebastian. It almost seemed like he was having fun!" I responded.
"He must have been under some sort of spell." Alec said, thinking.
"Sebastian is using some sort of magic because he spun a ring on his finger and both Jace and him disappeared."
"Something about that is definitely odd. We should look into this further." Isabelle commented.
"Alright, well why don't we do this. We can split up and investigate different places to see if we can find any evidence. We will leave tomorrow morning and report back late tomorrow night. Clary, give one of those rings to Simon. He will be able to communicate with you when you are with Sebastian. Make sure you act like what Sebastian is doing and thinking is what you think is right. Maia, Jordan. Go to Praetor Lupus and see if they have any information. Isabelle, Simon, Alec. You are all going to come with me. I have some ideas. Now get some rest. I will see you all in the morning." Magnus informed us all.
