Once I was out of view from the others I sprinted to my room. I got in, slammed the door, and marched to my bathroom.
The rage was burning inside of me as I steadied myself on the side of the sink. My breathing became heavy and my head hang low.
Who does he think he is? stealing my book. It's ridiculous.
I turned on the tap and splashed my face with water.
I stared at myself in the mirror. I was like that for ages. Just looking and inspecting and thinking. It was all too much. I hated it here and Loki just made it worse. I had barely met the guy and I already had a deep hatred for him.
I gained my composure and smartened myself up before returning to the others.
By the time I got there they had began to gather at the table. I was ushered over by Thor to sit next to him, but to my annoyance Loki was sat opposite me.
When he came to sit down he placed my book down next to him. I eyed the book all dinner, casually making sure it was still there. Finding a way to steal it back. I was silent the whole time I ate, still not engaging with anyone.
I went to take a sip of my water and looked up and my eyes were met with Loki's. I gave him a glare and he gave me a look back as if to say 'watch what you're doing'.
I hadn't noticed I stopped breathing until I took a sip of my drink at I started to choke. I slammed the cup back down on the table as I began to cough violently. The others just started to panic and Nat came over to help me not die. I quickly regained my composure and gave my apologies to everyone of my sudden outburst in choking.
I looked back at Loki who was shaking his head unnoticeably with a smirk on his face. I huffed and carried on eating.
After a while it was getting to the point where people were starting to finish so I excused myself from the table.
"Won't you stay for some games?" Sam asked as I stood from the table.
"Oh no I'm alright thanks, I was just going to retire early tonight" I replied with a smile and walked back to my room.
When I opened the door I saw that my book was my bedside table with a note that read,
Boring. Have you got any better ones?
- God of MischiefI didn't know how to react. The hatred built up inside me. He had just scorned one of my favourite books. God that God was infuriating.
I placed the note in my draw and got ready for bed. As I scrambled into my sheets my thoughts once again raced back to Loki. He was so vexatious and aggravating. My mind couldn't get over him.
I was whisked away with him in my dreams as I drifted off to sleep.
~~~
My mood seemed to have done a U-turn when I woke up and I was looking forward to the day ahead. I wanted to get some more reading done and stay out of the way of Loki.It was around lunch when the team got a mission. They obviously didn't need me, which meant I was here. Alone. With Loki.
I was situated on the sofa as the team rushed to get ready, most of them seeing if I was going to be okay on my own with Loki when they ran past. I just replied with a "Yes, why wouldn't I be".
Loki walked in and didn't seem to acknowledge me as the others rushed around. "What is happening?" He asked, going over to where Thor was in the kitchen.
I couldn't seem to take my eyes off of him as he leaned his elbows against the work top, clasping his hands.
"A mission awaits us brother" Thor boomed, giving Loki one big pat on the back. Loki visibly annoyed. It made me chuckle. It also earned me a death glare from him, which I returned with an eye roll as I moved my focus back to the tv.
Once everyone had made their way to the Quinjet Loki came and sat on the opposite me and watched the tv intently.
"Can I help you?" He asked as I realised I had been staring.
"Oh sorry no no." I reply sharply. "Actually I've bee wanting to ask you," Loki's head turned to connect his eyes with yours, "Why did you steal my book from me yesterday?"
"I did not steal your book" He replied, leaning back with his hand behind his head, "I merely saw a book on the floor, picked it up and decided to read it"
"Liar"
"How so?" Loki leaned forward with a smirk appearing across his lips and resting his elbows on his knees.
"You must've known it was mine otherwise you wouldn't have given it back to me" I say, sinking into the sofa feeling proud of myself.
"Well, once I had came across the bookmark with your name in it, I suspected that it had been yours"
"It still doesn't make up for the fact you snuck into the library whilst I was in there. How did you do that by the way?" I leaned forward with intrigue.
"Ahhh, a magician never reveals his secrets" He remarks as he stands up making his way out of the main living area.
"Wait!" I exclaimed as I scuttled after him.
He turned to face me where he stood and I realised that he was closer than I thought.
"Yes?" He asked looking at me with questioning eyes.
"Stay" My eyes widened as I processed what I had just said
"Why in the nine realms would I do that?" Loki said with a chuckle.
"I don't know why I said that to be honest." I stepped back, looking at the ground. Embarrassed.
"Stop wasting my time you feeble mortal"
Then he was gone.
