"Rei?!" I perked up at the familiar voice, spinning around to come face to face with the last person I'd expect to be here. "Norm?!" I squealed. I enveloped the lanky brunette in a fierce hug. "I can't believe it! It's been years!" I practically squealed. "Me either! I thought I'd never see you again after you moved away from Iowa!" I hugged him again. "Are you an avatar driver?" He questioned. I could practically feel my eyes light up. "Yep! Are you?" Norm grinned, nodding. "YES! YESYESYESYES!!" I said, lightly punching his arm in excitement. "The bodies have just about fully matured, wanna go see yours?" I nodded vigorously. Norm pointed to the labs. "I have my logging to do, but that's where the avatars are. Be careful, the tanks are extremely touchy." He warned. I nodded before jogging towards the lab with excitement. I swear sometimes I might be near-sighted, because I ran into a man with brown hair with a coffee in hand. Luckily he didn't spill much, and he seemed pretty cool about it. "Sorry, I'm just excited." The man smiled. "Here to see your avatar?" I nodded vigorously. "What's your name?" He asked, peering at a clipboard at a desk to check which body is where. "Rei Willows." He pointed me towards a particular tank towards the back. I nodded thank you and then strolled to the back of the lab. Then I found the particular tank the man pointed to. I gasped. She was stunning.
Her hair, instead of being in the standard braid, was floating around the body in beautiful raven-black waves like a cloud in the blue water, just like how I had mine usually. Her skin was a blue deeper than the Atlantic and the stripes were even deeper blue, almost black. Her feline-like nose was a medium shape, and the nose part itself was a blueish-black, and her eyes were big, even when closed, and I can only imagine the shade of gold they were. Her ears were like an elve's, pointy but majestic, and black lobe-stretching earring was placed in her ear, and there were bioluminescent dots scattered all around her body, dusted across her nose and under eyes like freckles, and her tail looked as if to have a feather-like tuft of hair at the end. Purple beads were placed on some of the strands of her hair. The loincloth I made for her would look great on her toned, slim body. "Woah," I breathed. "She's beautiful...." I gasped. "She's yours." A slightly raspy feminine voice came from behind me. I turned around and came face-to-face with Grace Augustine, who was, frankly, the most feared and respected biologist and avatar driver in the program. "Miss Augustine!" I squeaked with hidden excitement. "Save the formalities. Just call me Grace. What's yours?" I smiled, regaining my composure. "Rei, Rei Willows." I responded, giving her a firm handshake. "I've heard very promising things about you. How's your Na'vi?" She said, leaning against the wall coolly.
"My vocabulary has grown in the past few years, because I chose to take extra classes, though my accent hasn't developed thoroughly yet." I spoke in the native's language, occasionally making gestures with my hands. "Impressive, though your accent, as you pointed out, is slightly outlandish. But I am sure once you start talking with the natives I'm sure it will improve. And try not to be so formal." Grace judged. I smiled at the biologist's compliment. "How many hours have you logged?" She questioned, looking at me. "602 hours." I replied. "Damn, already? What is this, a competition?" She asked, either impressed or surprised. "Do you want it to be?" I challenged. Grace chuckled. "You are a hoot. I'm going driving. See you later." And with that Grace exited the labs, strides so confident, so sure. Wish I had that kind of confidence.
