Shiro tried to console Kai on the couch. Kai laid down on the couch with their head on Shiro's lap. Shiro slowly petted Kai's soft head, "You're safe now, Kai. Can you tell me what happened?". Kai looked up to Shiro's face wiping away tears "One of my deliveries was to Tommy's house and he almost attacked me... He didn't hurt me though. I got to my car safely." Kai sat up and tightly hugged Shiro "Please keep me safe." Kai began sobbing into Shiro's shoulder. Shiro wrapped his arms around Kai's body "I will, I'll stay here as long as you need me.". Rage replaced Shiro's fear of Tommy and Rylan, Shiro wanted nothing more than to see Tommy and Rylan's face scared of him.
Tomorrow was Monday and Kai had already gone to bed before the sun went down, in their work clothes, before eating anything. Shiro sat in the living room with the TV at a low volume staring out the living room window. People walked by on the sidewalk, none of which Tommy or Rylan. It was only around 7pm when Shiro decided to turn the TV off and lay on the couch with a blanket. Shiro tried to remember the last time he showered and decided to take a quick one while Kai was asleep. Shiro walked quietly to the bathroom forgetting there was no lock. Shiro turned the shower on and went into it before it could warm up. The lukewarm water went over Shiro's body and they looked down watching it roll off of their snout and fingertips. "I need clean clothes" Shiro said to himself. After Shiro cleaned himself he wrapped a towel around his body and walked back to the living room and called his mom.
It went to voicemail.
"Hey mom, uhm, I hope I didn't scare you by not calling sooner. I didn't run away, but uh, I'm going to stay the night here again. Their name is Kai and they live alone and we are becoming close friends and I think they like the fact I am here. I make them feel safe I think. Well the main reason I'm calling you is I need some clean clothes. I would like them before tomorrow and maybe like a few days worth? I can text you their address. Uh, call me back if you can.. I love you."
Shiro ended the voicemail and put his phone down "Do I live here now?" Shiro asked himself. He put his face in his hands. Shiro's phone began to ring, it was his mom.
"Hey Shiro!" She answered. Shiro was happy to hear her voice. "Hey mom. I'm guessing you got my voicemail?" It sounded like she sniffled "Yea I heard it, you're growing up.. I understand. Don't worry." Shiro didn't know how to directly react, "I'm not leaving you yet, mom." She laughed softly "I love you, Shiro. I'll pack you a bag with some of your clothes. Give me an hour or so ok?" Shiro felt sad. He could feel his mom's emotions. "Thank you, mom. I love you." Shiro could hear a smile in her voice "I love you too, Shiro.". Shiro hung up first and felt bad for doing so. Shiro felt like crying. He felt bad making his mom do that, but he wanted to keep Kai safe.
Not too long later a knock came at the door. Shiro tightened his towel and opened the door to his mom. "Don't worry. I just took a shower. Be quiet cause they had a rough day. They are asleep." Shiro's mom smiled "Don't worry, I understand." She handed him a gym bag smiling. Shiro dropped it on the ground to hug her. She accepted the hug and reciprocated. "You'll make a great mate to someone some day Shiro." Shiro wanted to tell her 'It's not like that' but didn't. She seemed happy in that thought and Shiro smiled at her "Thank you." He said to her. She smiled "I'm your mom. You don't need to thank me for bringing you clothing.". Shiro laughed "yea.. I'll call you again soon.". Shiro's mom smiled "Thank you.. goodbye, I love you." She began to turn around, "Bye mom, I love you too." She began walking back to her car. Shiro watched her drive away and waved closing the door.
Shiro began looking through the gym bag. All of the shirts and pants were neatly folded and smelled like they were freshly washed. There was enough clothes to last at least two weeks. Shiro put on some boxers and sat on the couch, then decided to put on sweatpants as well. and fell asleep.
