Autumn of 2016

Winter Weather

Kai and Shiro sat with hot chocolates watching the snowfall. "The first snow of December is always the prettiest." Kai remarked, stars in their eyes. With the months that they had been together, Kai and Shiro grew close. They didn't share a bed yet but they did share everything else. During movie nights Kai found themselves cuddling up to Shiro. It was almost like a reflex. Shiro grew to like it and it soon became normal. Some nights Kai felt guilty that Shiro had to sleep on the couch. They would offer to buy them an air mattress but Shiro always said no. People at school were beginning to think that they were a couple but Shiro and Kai always denied it. 

Kai looked up to Shiro "What should we do on new years? I have no idea what to do.". Shiro smiled "I don't know dude. I'm down for whatever. We still got a few weeks till then. Why do you ask?". Kai shifted their attention back to the window "I dunno, just wondering... oh hey your birthday is next week isn't it?". Shiro smiled "Hey you remembered!". Kai giggled "What's your favorite type of cake?" Shiro shook his head "Oh no  you don't need to-". Kai interrupted "oh come on, just tell me." Shiro sighed "Fine, German chocolate." Kai laughed "How fancy. I'll make you the best German chocolate cake you've ever had.". Shiro ginned "Thank you, Kai. Lets watch that new scary movie you've been talking about tonight.". Kai's ears perked up "Hell yes!"

Kai was at the grocery store looking for ingredients for a German chocolate cake, as per Shiro's request. The powdered box cakes drew Kai's attention but they were determined to make it from scratch. In the exotic section Kai found some coconut shavings and threw it into the cart. "Now those are some fancy foods!" A familiar voice came from behind Kai. It was some girl from their class. She was a persian cat wearing a thick parka and jeans. Her smile felt warm and she seemed super nice. She walked closer to Kai. "Hey you're the anatomy project fox. uh, Kai right?". Kai smiled and nodded "Yea and what's your name? Sorry.". She grinned. "My name is Chloe. May I ask what you're gonna make with chocolate bars and coconut shavings?". Kai laughed "Yea, I'm making a cake for my friend. His birthday is in a couple days." She smiled sweetly "You sound like a really nice friend, I wish I had people in my life like you." Kai blushed slightly at her compliments. Kai took their phone from their pocket. Why don't you give me your Phone number, I wanna keep in contact with you. You seem really sweet and nice.". Chloe took Kai's phone and put her number in. She added her own contact and sent herself a text to add Kai's number. Kai smiled "Thank you. It was nice meeting you!" Chloe smiled "Have a good day!" She waved. "You too!" Kai smiled and waved back.

Kai got home and unloaded the groceries. Shiro walked into the kitchen "How was the trip?" Kai smiled "It was good. I met a girl that goes to our school. Apparently she's in our bio class, a persian named Chloe?" Shiro's face lit up remembering her "Ohhh yea I think I've seen her. She's kinda cute not gonna lie.". Kai put the cake ingredients aside "Yea she was super nice." Kai smiled. "I have her phone number now if you want it." Shiro grabbed his phone "Oh sure!"
