Biology Class

Kai walked out of the auditorium watching the small group of football people walking ahead of them. Kai glanced at the room numbers searching for their first class, biology. Kai's eyes stayed focused ahead secretly hoping they wouldn't be stuck with anyone from the football team the first class in the day for everyday of Junior year. Kai was surprised when the two footballers ahead of them disappeared into a classroom, but dropped the smile when they realized it was their class. "damnit" Kai whispered. Tommy and Shiro walked into Biology class and sat at the furthest table from the teachers desk. "How are we going to be able to take notes? I can barely read the teachers name." Shiro said cautiously sitting next to Tommy. "Well." Tommy was taken aback. "We don't. I don't even remember the last time I 'ven opened a notebook." He laughed. "Even a book for that matter.". Shiro sighed. Tommy glanced at the door while Kai entered the class muttering under their breath. "Fuckin great." Tommy gestured at the door. "What now?" Shiro asked. "That dude with the tits!" Tommy acted like Shiro was supposed to know. "The long hair with the blue? What's wrong with her?" Shiro watched as Kai took a notebook from their bag. "Exactly!" Tommy exasperated. "It's not a her. It has a dick! Iza freak of nature I tells ya." Tommy leaned back in his chair. Shiro pondered what that would even look like in his head. "I don't see how that's bad though? They were probably born like that or something. Maybe they are even transgender. I don't know." Shiro said not looking at Tommy. Tommy sat forward staring directly into Shiro's eyes. "No there's more. Last year they reported Taj for harassing this gay fag frum band class. That's why you're here." Tommy seemed annoyed now with Shiro. Shiro looked at Kai and back at Tommy. Shiro took a minute to think about his response. But ultimately said noting. Tommy slapped Shiro's chest. "Ey! don't be no 'white knight' ya hear? This is your first day here. You don't want no bad rep do you?" Tommy angrily pointed his skinny fingers at Shiro. Shiro sighed "no..". Tommy smiled and Shiro could see how badly he needed braces, or a better dentist. "Good!" Tommy sat back and crossed his arms. Shiro took a breath and let himself get lost in his thoughts for a bit. 'As long as I don't need to talk to them it will be fine. Right? I can support them in my head. It's the thought that counts. yea. that's right.' A tall thin lioness walked into the room. Tommy nudged Shiro. "Look at her! That's a MILF if I ever seen one!" Shiro shushed Tommy as she stood next to the whiteboard. She pointed at the name that was written there MRS.BECK. "Hello students." She eyed the class for a moment. "If you couldn't read, or pick up on context clues, I'm Mrs. Beck. And this is my bio class." She grinned and walked in front of her desk and sat on the edge of it slightly lessening the professional atmosphere. She crossed her legs. "Class, to start the year we are going to see what you learned, or remember, from last year and the years before with a project, much like a science fair. this is just to gage how I will teach my class this year." She paused to get class reactions. A few groans a few gasps of excitement from previous teacher pets. Tommy nudged Shiro again "We will be partners, obviously, I know this really good website we can just get a project from." Tommy grinned. Shiro nodded his head only so Tommy would be quiet. Mrs. Beck stood. "...And just so we can get some extra bonding and chemistry in this class. I will be choosing partners." Mrs. Beck grimaced in preparation for the classwide groans of annoyance. Which came ten fold. Tommy cursed. "The fuck!? Come on dude!" Mrs. Beck glared at Tommy. Kai didn't know how to feel, they had no friends in this class that they could see. Kai suddenly remembered they two football kids in the class. "Two out of 24, jeez." Kai said to themselves. Mrs. Beck just pointed randomly at people. "You.. uh.. you.. you and.. you, wait wait you know each other so no.. you and ok yes you. no not you you.." Finally she Pointed at Shiro. "You and well.." She pointed at Kai. "You're new so I'll give you a nicer kid, Kai." Kai felt their heart drop. the ratio 2:24 echoed in their head. Shiro felt shocked. Tommy didn't hide it. "Well. It was nice know'n ya." Tommy got up and sat with his partner. Shiro nervously got up to sit with Kai. Kai didn't look up. "Hey." Shiro tried to introduce himself as well but just sat quietly. "Mrs. Beck divvied up the rest of the class and sat at their desk and pulled up a powerpoint. "These are the topics I would like for you to choose from. If you want something different come ask me please. Ok. Communicate with your partner on times to meet and stuff. We will not be working on these during class times other than today. Alright you can talk now." Mrs. Beck started shuffling around papers on her desk and attempted to organize. Shiro looked at Kai. Shiro thought Tommy was short, looking down at Kai was like looking at a little kid. Kai pointed to the list with the eraser of their pencil. "I'll let you choose if you want. I'm fine with any of those honestly." Shiro focused on the list and took interest at the third bullet point. "How about anatomy?" Shiro asked looking over and down at Kai. "Sure." Kai scribbled ANATOMY PROJECT at the top of their notebook page. Kais ears perked up a little, secretly excited to do a topic that at least is a little interesting. "Hey we can do it at my place, I live alone pretty much so we won't be interrupted." Kai looked up at Shiro making eye contact for the first time. Kai couldn't help but stare at Shiro's large protruding canine teeth. Shiro looked confused. "You live alone? As a junior?" Shiro said. Kai waved their hand at the question. "I'll explain later. Here I'll write my address down for you." Kai took out a sticky note to scribble their address and handed it to Shiro. "Oh hey that's not too far from me. I could ride my bike to you." Shiro stared at the address. Kai smiled. "Good, we can meet tonight if you want?" Kai still grinned at looked up at Shiro. Shiro nodded "I'll be there."
