That day, I woke up.
But I wasn't at home. It was a weird place, that I had never seen before. Was I kidnapped? But no kidnapper would bring someone to a place as nice as this. The walls that I recognized as amethyst were shining like the sun, how rich do you have to be to have a house made of amethyst?!
I looked at my watch that was thankfully still around my wrist, I got severe anxiety if I didn't have a watch, and watched the numbers go from 2:59, to 3:00. It was 3 o'clock?! Dad would have woken me up by now, but where am I?
I heard a knock at the door, and looked down to see the cutest pair of pajamas with different pride flags all over it, comfortably on my sweaty body. I didn't own anything like this.
"Come in!" I heard myself say, wondering why a kidnapper would knock. The door at the other end of the huge room opened, and in came in a blonde girl with ice blue eyes, and a few little braids through her hair. So surprised, I jumped up and hit my head on the wall behind me, all while choking on the air I was breathing.
"Marella?"
"Who else would it be stupid?" She said with a little giggle at the end.
"Um... I don't know...?" An awkward chuckle followed.
"Tell me why I fell for the weird enby kid who sleeps until 3 in the afternoon? Why do you like to sleep more than spend time with your girlfriend?" she asked with a pouty face and big puppy dog eyes.
"Girlfriend?" I again choked on the air around me, as Marella walked towards my bed, and hopped on. She sat behind me with crossed legs, and started brushing my hair.
"Why you being so weird, Ash?" My heart skipped when I heard her call me Ash. It was the first time anyone had used the name for me, and it felt really good. She stopped brushing my hair for a second, and took her arms and pulled me into a backwards, one-way hug. Then, she kissed my cheek, and fireworks exploded in my heart. She turned me around so I was looking at her, and she looked back, and we sat there smiling at each other for who knows long. Then she wrinkled her nose, and proclaimed,
"You smell."
I went to go get ready, took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, washed my face and all that, then went to look in my closet. If I was really in the Lost Cities, then the wardrobe would be, just woah. I was correct, but I looked for sweatpants and a sweatshirt, (if I have to wear fancy clothes, at least let them be comfortable) and found ones in bright pink, yellow, and blue patterns. I called Marella in and asked her to dutch braid one side of my hair.
Like this,
'Cause it makes me feel powerful, and confident, and in a "say what your gonna say, but I don't give one single thought about it anyway so don't waste your energy" kinda mood.
I grabbed Marella's hand, and she light leaped us out for my first day in the Lost Cites.
