My sister tries to kill me

As I stared up into the dark motionless windows of Westover Hall, I found it pretty hard to believe that dawn was coming anytime soon. The blizzard had become so intense that I could barely see ten inches in front of me. I was used to the cold, but this was something else.

I also couldn't help but wonder if any of the teaching staff had taken notice of the di Angelos disappearance. I figured that they probably hadn't yet, otherwise with my luck a fleet of police officers would have already surrounded us. Somehow finding a way to place the blame on our group.

Just as fast as the Hunters set up camp, they had torn it down. We'd all been huddled up waiting for hours at that point. While my friends and I shivered in the snow, the Hunters seemed completely immune. Some of them were even walking around with their jackets off.

The only people who weren't standing around waiting were Nico and Bianca. She had pulled him aside a few minutes earlier, and by the look on Nicos face, I could only assume that she'd finally built up the courage to tell him that she was leaving him behind.

I knew it wasn't good to judge someone you just met but come on! How selfish could you be? Leaving behind your younger sibling in the midst of a life changing time, not exactly a kind move.

Thalia eventually turned to Percy and I. "What did you guys talk about anyways. When you were summoned?"

As we explained, Grover turned pale. "The last time the Hunters visited camp, it didn't go well."

"Wait," Thalia shook her head. "Artemis said that Olympus has plans for you, Joey?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I guess."

"That's not good." She concluded.

"You're telling me."

"How'd the Hunters even show up here?" Percy wondered. "I mean, they just appeared out of nowhere."

"And Bianca joined them," Thalia said, disgusted. "It's all Zoe's fault. That stuck-up, no good—"

"She doesn't seem that bad, Thalia." I stopped her.

"Not that bad?" When she repeated my words I knew that I was in for it. "You barely even know her. Just because she tried to suck up to you for some reason, it doesn't mean that she's a nice person."

Maybe I would have argued with her, I did seem to be having a pretty short temper around that time. I didn't though. I was way too exhausted to think of a comeback, let alone start screaming and yelling and embarrassing myself again.

So I just sighed. "Okay, I'll take your word for it."

"Who could really blame Zoe though?" Grover budded in. "Eternity with Artemis?" He heaved a big sigh.

Thalia rolled her eyes. "You satyrs. You're all in love with Artemis. Don't you get that she'll never love you back?"

"But she's so...into nature," Grover swooned.

"You're nuts," said Thalia.

"Nuts and berries," Grover said dreamily. "Yeah."

I squinted my eyes as the sky finally began to lighten. The bright sun looming in the far distance

Artemis muttered, "about time. He's so-o-o lazy during the winter."

"You're, um, waiting for sunrise?" Percy asked.

"For my brother. Yes."

Okay, so I'd seen a lot of crazy over the years, despite that my extension of disbelief did have some limits. This was one of them. I'm sorry but I just couldn't believe that Apollo drove some big chariot through the sky twice a day and that was actually the sun. No, the sun was a large star sitting a bazillion miles away from us in outer space. That was what I had been taught and that was what made sense.
