I become James Bond...kinda

Flying is usually pretty fun. Don't get me wrong, I don't exactly do it very often. It would probably turn a few heads to just see me casually flying down the school halls. Still, when I do fly it's typically an exhilarating experience. I feel light and in control. Like no one can touch me so high above the ground. This time though, it felt more like tourture. I'd definitely rate the experience a one out of ten.

Percy was nice company as we traveled, he was probably the only real highlight of the trip. His horse just hated my guts for absolutely no reason at all. You see, last summer Percy apparently rescued the thing off of Luke's cruise ship. Ever sense, Percy has described the creature as feeling indebted to him. Calling him his 'boss' and everything. You'd think for an animal with so many manors he'd treat me decently but nope, I guess he doesnt get paid enough for that. Which is to say, he doesn't get paid at all. He's a horse. They don't use cash.

If I would have just been able to freely fly at Percy's side, I think everything would have been alright. Unfortunately though, that wasn't exactly the case. Sense we were sneaking out, we had to stay invisible. Literally. I mean, the snow covered us pretty well but with Argus driving the camp bus, we couldn't just rely on the storm. Argus had his eyes on everyone within a two block radius of himself. Our only hope in following them unnoticed was to use Annabeth's cap of invisibility. The problem was that she only had one and at that moment, it was sitting on Percy's head.

That wasn't as big of an issue as it might initially seem. Back on my first quest, we had learned that if the person using the cap held someone's hand, they would become concealed as well. So I hope this gives you a slight idea of the predicament I was in. Imagine one kid flying on an angry horse and another kid holding onto their hand for dear life.

You can probably tell just from that we didn't have a great time touring the city. It also didn't help that it was absolutely freezing. I was really wishing right then that I had brought a thicker jacket.

"Where's Argus taking them?" Percy muttered.

I eyed the van below us. "I don't know...wait. You're talking to the horse again, aren't you?"

"Um...no."

Percy's horse Blackjack let out a neigh that I could only assume was an answer that I couldn't hear.

Percy shook his head. "Which girl?"

"A girl?" I asked. "What's he saying, Percy?"

Before he could respond though, the horse spoke again.

"Zoe." Percy sighed before he turned to me. "Zoes driving."

I raised an eyebrow. "Isn't she a little too young for that?"

"Well I mean, she is immortal." Percy shrugged.

"Good point."

To be honest, I hadn't really put much thought to the whole age thing until then. I couldn't help but wonder how old Zoe really was. With her accent it was kinda hard to tell if she was from a thousand years ago, or if she was just british.

Before I knew it, Blackjack started whining again. He landed abruptly on the Chrysler Building and I tumbled against the ruff roof, skinning my hands as I caught myself.

"Joey!" I heard Percy's voice and then felt his hand grasp around my own. "Are you okay?"

My palms did kinda sting but I figured it wasn't a big enough deal to get Percy worrying about me.

"I'm fine," I responded. "I'd probably be better though if your horse wasn't trying to kill me."

The horse neighed.
