The first ball of snow initiated a snowball fight for the two of us. Niall grabbed a handful of snow and threw it at me, the rounded ice melting and soaking my shirt.
"Fuckin hell! This is cold," I shivered. I quickly made a snowball and aimed for his face.
"Hey! No fair! You can't throw on my face!" He said.
"Oh but I can," I threw another one at him which he deflected by bringing his hand up to break it on his arm.
"Don't you think you can get away with this," he growled and threw one with full force which shattered on my coat.
"You have shit aim," I mocked him playfully.
"You call this shit aim?" He asked, throwing one at my face.
"Ouch. Okay that was cold," I chuckled, wiping the melting snow off my face. This went on for another twenty minutes until I started shivering from the soaked clothes.
"Okay lets get back home. I'm very cold," I shivered.
He wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer to his warm body. Like a moth drawn into a flame, I curled closer to him, basking in his warmth. he slipped out a cigarette and lit it up, placing it against his lip and taking a deep breath in.
"Really? We're like two minutes away from my house," I rolled my eyes.
"So? I'm addicted to it and I need it," he said, sucking in another breath. I let him have his smoke session, knowing that I'd kick his ass if he did this inside my house.
We walked back home and Niall let me go once we entered the house. I stripped off all the winter clothes and hung them up in the entrance, as did Niall.
"You want some hot chocolate?" I asked.
"Please," He said. This was probably the first time he has openly agreed to wanting something when I've asked him.
"It's only a mix so don't expect it to be the best," I chuckled. I know that it's practically impossible to hear any ruckus downstairs when you're upstairs but I still tried to keep my voice down.
"A silent house is nice," Niall said, taking one of the chairs from the dining hall and putting it in the kitchen for him to sit. I heated up some milk as I grabbed two mugs.
"Not always," I shook my head.
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean. I hate how lonely I feel in my own house," I said, sitting up on the counter and crossing my legs.
"True," he nodded. "But I like this silence."
"I guess I do too," I said in a whisper. We sat there in silence as the milk warmed up. I poured the warm milk in the two mugs and stirred some sugar and hot chocolate mix. I passed Niall's mug and drank my own. I let the heat of the cup warm my literal icy hands.
The silence continued as we drank our drinks. Niall thanked me for it once we finished. I quickly rinsed both cups and put them on the drying rack.
"Well... good night I guess," I said when we reached my room.
"I mean it's 2:30 in the morning. Technically, good morning?" He said with a little chuckle.
"Oh whatever," I rolled my eyes but laughed a little.
"Well I'll see you when we wake up," I said.
"I uh... I had a good time tonight," he said. "You're not so boring after all."
