Friday, December 25th

"Are we ready?" Sheik asked as they faced the elevator that would bring them up to the world above.

"Maybe?" Link said nervously.

"Probably not," Zelda stated looking green.

"Alright that means we're ready!" Liz said as she stepped onto the elevator with gusto.

As Zelda followed her she whispered to Link, "How does she do that?"

Link muttered out of the side of his mouth, "I have no clue."

As the elevator rose up a bright white light flashed again and the group turned back into their normal selves. Well at least normal for Link and Zelda. Seeing as Sheik and Liz came from Lorule they probably thought of these as their disguises.

The group emerged into what seemed to be the backroom of a bakery. A woman, with pink curly hair and a purple apron, introduced herself as Saki and directed them to a door that led out the back of her bakery, Rito's Cupcakes. "That's obvious," Zelda thought amused. Liz led the way to the nearest subway station and they quickly arrived at the Mall.

Sheik split away from the group at the Washington Monument to go ahead and create the diversion. About 20 minutes later several gunshots and an explosion came from behind them. When they turned around the entire top of the Capitol Building was on fire.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I TOLD HIM TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A TERRORIST ATTACK NOT TO MAKE IT AN ACTUAL TERRORIST ATTACK!" Liz shouted exasperated.

The group started running through the Mall to the building that had been completely fire free a few moments ago. They ran up the steps and entered the building with marble falling all around. They made it to the junction and met Sheik there. By this time everyone had turned into their Lorule selves so they could have ready access to their weapons of choice.

"Sheik what, in the name of Din, did you do?" Liz hissed.

"I caused a distraction and shot a back stabbing politician," Sheik said with an innocent smile.

Liz just shook her head angrily and they ran off to find a way down. Link found a hidden staircase that Liz said had old Native American patterns on the walls. They took a wild guess and ran down the stairs. What was at the end of the staircase was a huge shock.

Sheik and Link almost yelled out, "ARYLL!" but Liz held them back.

"Look at their eyes!" she hissed, "This shouldn't even be possible! They look like they are possessed by malice."

Link stared at Liz like she was speaking a forign language, "But it was all destroyed thousands of years ago!"

"Obviously not," Sheik said grimly. "I'll stay and fight them, you guys keep going."

"Absolutely not. You couldn't fight Aryll and Paya at all, it would destroy you. I'll do it," Liz said angrily.

"Can you?" Zelda asked softly.

Liz stared at her for a moment, doubt written all over her face but she set her jaw determinately. "If I can kill in darkness for years I can hold my friends back."

Link squinted at his friend for a moment before pulling her in for a hug. "Be careful."

Liz smiled slightly, "Always."

With that she ran at her two best friends contemplating if she would be able to end their lives.

They had been running for five minutes straight and Zelda was wondering if they would ever find the altar when they ran into Cia, Lana's sister. Sheik didn't even give a chance to let anyone else take Cia on and just ran at her. Zelda and Link ran into a door at the other end of the room and entered a long hallway with a big intricate door at the end. Zelda and Link both felt a chill go up their spines and knew that this was it.

"Zel..." "I am making a really dumb desicion."

"Yeah Link?" "Why do I suddenly feel nervous?"

"I want to do something real quick."

"What?"

Link leaned into his princess and was lit on fire. He never knew a kiss could feel this good. They stood there for a moment and looked at each other before Link said, "I'm glad that I got to do that before we walk into certain doom."

Zelda smiled slightly, "Same. We should probably go in now."

"Yeah."

They walked in and Zelda fell to the floor crying out in grief.
