The Christmas Party

Monday, December 21st

Zelda stood nervously outside the Golden Goddesses Diner. She really couldn't understand why she was so nervous. She knew mostly everyone there besides for Link's family. "Ah there it is. Link's family." It still didn't make much sense to her why she was nervous. Zelda had accepted the fact that she liked him but knew her feelings weren't returned. She shook herself and stepped into the flurry of action in the diner.

Link looked up at the tinkling from the door and froze. "Nayru why do you do this to me?" he thought. Zelda looked drop dead gorgeous. She was wearing a lace off the shoulder lavender dress with nude wedges. Her hair was done in an intricate bun that seemed to have several different braids in it. She also wore crystal snowflake earrings with a matching necklace. A cousin beside him whispered to Link, "She better be single."

Link felt a flare of anger, he wasn't quite sure why but he snapped at him saying, "She isn't. Her boyfriend's scary too."

The guy huffed. "He doesn't deserve her," as he walked away.

Zelda looked around for one of her friends and found Liz sitting by herself in a corner and she hurried over to sit by her. Liz looked great. She had slightly heavy makeup and her hair was in a half-updo. She wore the red velvet wrap dress with black platform heels and she was observing the members of the party closely. Zelda hurried over and sat next to her. "You never seemed to be the one to sit in corners, Liz."

Liz laughed, "No probably not, but there are a ton of people here and I needed a break from dancing."

"Where's Paya?"

"Late, she hates social events but I got her to come to this one."

Lana came over to the table dragging a girl with her, "This is Midna, Zelda. Midna; Zelda."

Midna looked slightly crazy but in a good way. She had orangish hair and was wearing a black floor length dress. It looked like Midna and Lana had basically the same fashion sense.

Midna said, "Hello!"

"Hey nice to meet you Midna!" Zelda said.

However before she could strike up a conversation with the girl a boy with brown eyes pulled her onto the dance floor, without even asking. The guy was a terrible dancer and flirter. Everything he said just felt weird. The worst part was he had grabbed her during a slow song so she was dancing with an ugly guy named Manny to All of Me. Her eyes roamed for someone she knew and they landed on Link and Zelda sent a very clear "Help me!" gaze his way. Thankfully, he got the message and unplugged the jukebox without any suspicion and Zelda was able to slip away. Everyone just figured someone had tripped on the cord and plugged it back in. A much less slow song came on and, thankfully, Manny did not come looking for her.

"Thanks Link," she said.

"Don't worry about it. He's always been terrible when it comes to girls. He gave some girl crickets one time to try and win her over."

Liz slipped onto one of the stools next to them, "To be fair to the idiot, Sheik did tell him that Prima liked crickets."

Zelda choked on the soda Link had handed her, "Really?! Sheik did that?"

"I think he had been hitting on 'Ryll," Link said.

"He was and said some nasty crap too," Liz said disgustedly.

"Oh yeah and you and I went to beat him up after that."

Zelda raised an eyebrow, "You went to beat him up?"
