Tuesday, December 15th
The entire group, except for Revali, was sitting around a table in the diner bored out of their minds sipping chocolate milkshakes, courtesy of Liz.
Lana asked, "So... what do we wanna do?"
Zelda shrugged, "No clue."
"Well we've got to do something!" Aryll exclaimed, unable to sit still for long.
"Chill," Mipha said, "I'm sure something will occur to us."
Something did occur to them and it came in the form of Revali, "Miph... Um, what are you guys doing?"
"Sitting around being bored," Link said huffily.
"You seem excited about something," Sheik said dryly.
Revali blushed, "Well, I was going to invite someone to the amusement park today..."
"Who was it?" Liz asked knowing full well who it was, as she had been a careful observer of Revali.
"Not important. I would say we could all go but I only bought two tickets..."
"TICKETS ON ME!" Zelda said, pulling Lana and Mipha up and out the restaurant throwing them unceremoniously into the back of her van. She quickly stuck her face into the diner and said, "Are you guys coming or not?"
"I CALL SHOTGUN!" Liz yelled.
"Sorry, Link gets that," Zelda said, "He doesn't want to sit in the back with a bunch of girls."
Liz huffed slightly but said, "Fine."
Revali piped up, "Wait! I'm a guy."
Liz sent him a glare that made her look dangerously like if he said anything else to ruin this she would kill him and Revali shrunk back.
The group piled into Zelda's homeschool van. Seriously, Zelda's van looked like it was built to drag kids to sporting events and had a load of "Hylia is Hope" and "Vote for Nayru" stickers on it. Revali asked, "Why do you have a huge van?"
Zelda looked confused at his statement from the front seat, "Because I wanted one."
Aryll handed Zelda her phone to play music from it. Zelda's stereo began playing La Da Dee as they pulled out of the diner's parking lot. All the girls began singing and, for the most glorious moment in history, Revali and Link were united in exasperation as they held their hands over their ears for the entire drive.
-----
"Here we are!" Zelda announced hopping from the van. It was definitely chilly seeing as it was December but in all honesty everyone was too happy to have something to do, plus they had bundled up well. At least everyone besides Mipha who said, "Oh for the love of Din, I can't believe this! I forgot my gloves!"
Revali quickly took his off and handed them to her. "Here take mine."
"Oh no Revali, I'll be fine," she tried to hand him his gloves back but Revali just shook his head.
"No, I know you are a summer person, It's ok I like the cold."
Mipha blushed, "Thanks, Revali."
The group began walking toward the park entrance where a sleepy guard gave them tickets. The park was huge. Normally in the summer the park was separated by different countries but, seeing as it was Christmas time, everything was decorated for Christmas. They had made it at about three o'clock so it would be a little while until everything would light up. They rode some coasters, which Lana had to be coaxed on to with promises of hot chocolate later in the evening. They ended up watching a Christmas play in a giant eating hall until Liz suggested they go on the ferris wheel to be able to see all the lights, everyone agreed missing the mischievous look that passed between Liz, Lana, and Paya. Paya said she would sit this one out to get everyone hot chocolates and they would meet outside the van.
When they got to the ride entrance Lana took charge and said, "Ok Link you ride with Zel. Revali you're with Mipha and I'm sure Aryll and Sheik will have a fun time together." With that the group was pushed into line by Liz and they got onto the ride five minutes later. It started out well enough for Link and Zelda as they easily fell into conversation of some of the latest game theories but halfway through the second spin the ride mysteriously stopped. A voice came over the loudspeaker, "We are having slight technical difficulties with the ride. It should be sorted out soon. Thank you for your patience."
"Crap," Zelda sighed. "Why am I saying crap? I'm stuck up on the top of a ferris wheel with Link."
"Crap, is the best way to put this situation," Link said. "I am stuck with a pretty girl on top of a ferris wheel. Why am I agreeing? Wait... pretty? Come on Link, you know you've got to stop thinking about this."
"Yeah and I'm freezing," Zelda laughed.
Link pulled a thermal blanket out of his pocket, "Here take this."
"Thanks Link. Wait, why do you have a thermal blanket?"
"Habit. Aryll had a low tolerance for the cold when she was younger."
They sat in silence for a few minutes until Zelda noticed that Link was shivering. "You're cold," she stated.
"No not really."
"Liar. Here we'll share." She didn't even give him a chance to protest as she threw half of the blanket over him. Seeing as the blanket was pretty small this brought them together so that their shoulders were touching. For some reason it wasn't awkward, just peaceful. It was only them and the stars, at least until a voice came over the loudspeaker saying, "You're ride is ready to restart. Please remain seated until our attendant opens the cart."
-----
Ten minutes later they were out by the van where Paya was sitting. Somehow she had managed to carry seven hot chocolates back to the car without dropping them, which was a feat for this clumsy group.
While everyone was piling in, Liz whispered to Paya, "What did he ask for in return?"
"A date. You definitely owe me some money. He's hideous."
