Classes, Friends & Cuties

I walk into my first clasd of the day- Intro to Music 101. Surveying the lecture hall, I see a spot in the top row next to Jessie. She waves me over, smiling, so I start the walk over. As I sit down next to her, the professor walks in, and introduces himself. 

"Hello, everyine. I am Mr. Barr, and this is my music 101 class. I'm going to pass around the syllabus, and we'll discuss what we are going to be doing in the next year." I grab the pile of syllabi and take one, passing the rest down. It's not very thick, and the print seems to be of the normal size. It is only a one month course, but I still expected this to be a lot harder than it looks. 

"This class looks super easy, for a college, don't you think?" I whisper to Jessie and she shrugs in response. Maybe I'm just used to extraordinarily hard courses, nd this is normal for a first year student. I tune back into what Mr. Barr is saying. 

"Now, if you look at the first item on your syllabus it is that you must master at least one to two instruments in the time span of this class. That means all of the scales, notes and fingerings, and be able to play any piece that is put in front of you by sight reading it. Any questions so far? Good. Next on the list is..." I only half-listen to the lecture from this point on, realizing that what he is saying is on the page, so I can read it later. I doodle with my pen until the bell rings and we are dimissed from the hall. Having no other classes today, Jessie and I decide to take a trip to the mall, and buy some new summer clothes.

"So what are you into?" I ask, sipping on my frappuccino and searching through the clearance racks in Forever 21. 

"Music, obviously, art, and I also ran on my cross country team back home in Tallahasse," she states, leafing through another rack. Wow, people really do come from around the country to go to this school. 

"That's so cool! I ran the mile on my indoor and outdoor track teams back in California." I say, laughing at the memories. The boys that I was friends with would always pull pranks on me and the other girls, Andrew being the leader of it all. He loves teasing me for some reason. 

"So that boy you were with, is he your boyfriend?" I almost laugh out loud at the statement. 

"No, he's my bestfriend from back when I was little. But I do like him though," I blush at the fact that I'm telling all of this to a complete stranger. She laughs, and smiles over at me.

"Awe, young love. So cute! I join in to her laughter, and we continue the rest of the afternooon laughing and telling stories from back home. She gives me her number so we can text, and I give her mine. Then we head our seperate ways back to the dorms.

I walk through the lobby, shopping bags in tow, and hit the elevator button with my hip. Once the metal doors open, I wlak inside and hit the button for my floor. Walking out ofthe elevator, and inlocking my door, I throw my stuff onto the bed and grab my iPad to facetime with Andy and Piper. I call Piper first, seeing as though I haven't seen her in like two weeks. 

"Hey girl! I miss you!" She says, looking into the screen. 

"Hey, PIpes! I miss you too!" 

"SO how's the school? What'sit like? Is there any cuties?" I laugh, her and hoy guys, I swear.

"The campus in amazing, the classes are fantastic, and yes, there are some cuties," She squeals, and bounces up and down on her bed like a five year old. How mature my best friend is, right? We talk for a little longer about home and what's happened back home, then it's time to call Andrew.

"Sorry, Pipes, but I got to go call Andrew! See you soon, doll face!" She blows me a kiss and hangs up. 

Time to call Andrew, this could be hard.
