It's noon when I finally wake up. I sit up a rub the sleep from my eyes, and take a look around the room. Andy is sleeping on the pullout couch/bed, next to him there is a lamp, a dresser with a tv on it, and a small kitchen area. Aince Andy is still sleeping, I get up and start exploring the place. Looking through the cabinets and pantry, I see that the place is fully stocked with food, utensils, pots and pans, plates, bowls, everything a person needs to live. I guess that's what they do for you for the trial program. I find the cereal and make myself a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. I take the food back to my bed, and switch on the TV. After about thirty minutes, I put my bowl in the sink, and hop into the shower. I put on a pair of black leggings and a sweatshirt, do my makeup, and straighten my hair.
"Goodmorning, sunshine!" Andrew says, coming up behind me.
"Mornin', there's food if you're hungry," I say, trying to hide the sad look in my eyes. He's leaving today, and I won't see him or Piper for an entire month. This sucks.
"Nah, I'm not hungry. You look sad, come here." I walk over and wrap my arms around him.
"I'll miss you lots, you dingleberry," I say into his chest. He's a good four inches taller than me, so my face squishes right into his chest.
"I'll miss you too, goofball. You need to Facetime Pipes and I, don't forget?"
"Of course not. I'll call you guys everyday. Now, you sir, have flight to catch, so we need to head out. I'll drive you up to the airport.
~.~
I walk out of the airport and back to my car. After saying goodbye for the last time to Andrew, I grabbed a coffee from Starbucks, and hit the road again. After the twenty minute ride back to the school dorms, I curl up on my couch and watch Finding Nemo, until five o'clock, when I get ready for my introductory tour. As I walk down to the lobby I bump into a girl on accident.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry," I say.
"It's okay. Are you new here too?" she asks. She's brunette and probably five foot something. She's wearing a light blue cami with a black and white chvron patterned sweater over it, and a pair of yoga pants.
"Yeah, is it obvious?" I ask, laughing.
"Slightly, but that's okay, I'm new too. My name's Jessica, but most people call me Jessie."
"Hi, Jessie, I'm Kayla."
"Nice to meet you Kayla, want to walk together for the tour?"
"Sounds great," I say, as we start to walk.
"How old are you?" she asks, as the tour guide begins to talk.
"Seventeen, but I'll be 18 in about a month."
"Oh cool, I'm 18 already, but just had a birthday last month."
"Well, happy belated birthday," I exclaim, smiling. I think this month is going to go well, I mean what could go wrong?
